Another closure--getting frustrated

Personally I can live with all the smaller closures, but I think it's pretty bad to have Soarin' and BTMRR closed at the same time. Those are some of the best loved rides in all the parks, fun for a wide age and interest range. They could have waited on one of them until Rivers of Light and the Frozen ride were open. Just sayin'.

From what I understand Soarin was in desperate need of help. The movie was degraded pretty badly, and now would be the perfect time to not just fix it but switch it to something new. They can only put stuff off for so long.

Probably true but they could have waited until it was back open before closing btmrr. Both rides are two of the most universally appealing I the parks

Assuming that it's safe to do so. Soarin' is being updated, but perhaps BTMRR is undergoing maintenance that is required to keep it running safely. That's not something you can put off and unfortunately, things like that don't always schedule themselves for your convenience.

Refurbs haven't ever been an issue for me with the exception of one ride. My last 3 trips splash mountain has been closed for refurb and it was my favorite as a kid. I haven't been able to go on it since I was 7! I'm 23 now and I cannot wait to ride it this weekend!

Bummed we'll also be missing Soarin'

Correct. The screens were in bad shape and fixing that along with changing to digital will help. Then add the new film it's really a win.

I don't think it matters as much because they are in different parks and MK has a lot more to do.

Well, to me at least since they're my two favorites. :-) I do feel though that they shouldn't take down more than one headliner at a time. I live near DL so I get to ride them all the time, but if I were planning a trip the family only gets to take once every many years, I'd be much more bummed.

I'm bummed, too! Apparently Soarin was listed as reopening June 2 but now, rumors are that it will be later. Our dates are 6/4-6/11. We haven't gone in 4 yrs.

Regardless, we'll have fun but I can't help but be a little disappointed as BTMRR is one of my absolute faves. If everything goes as planned, we should be back in a few years though.

Soarin hasn't been listed as anything but Summer 2016. The rumor was June 2nd.

From what I understand, BTMRR refurb is strictly cosmetic to add an additional scene at the very end.

Disney doesn't confirm any date. I'd go with what other sites are saying.
Disney hasn't confirmed the end date for this refurb because it possibly could go longer. June 2nd was the rumored reopening but it's very possible it could be mid June instead.

Even when they know a date, they won't confirm. That is why other sites who do know the date are invaluable when it comes to planning.

They won't confirm because they may need another day or two. I'm not denying the date I'm just saying the date is unconfirmed right now.

I would have to agree with the cosmetic upgrade reason for closing. We missed this ride back in 2012, I believe, due to BTMRR being closed as they were doing a major overhaul then of track and all.

Just wish we were not going to miss again, but hopefully next time we go, it will be running.
