If you were going to rent a cabana at HRH for only one day, which would it be and why? Fri., Sat., or Sun. Thanks again for the info!

I actually booked a cabana for 2 days but if I only had to pick one day I think it would be a Friday. I booked cabana #1 for a Friday simply because it wouldn't be effected by the Dive In Movie. It's my understanding that they block or take down a few of the cabana's to accomodate the movie screen. I'd prefer to relax in our cabana while the kids sit in the pool and watch a movie rather than fighting to find a seat.

Thanks for the reply!:D I was thinking Friday also for that same reason, but wasn't sure if the rental time extended that late.

Just thought I'd let you know that I took your advice and booked a cabana for Fri. They only had 2 thru 7 available, and the guy told me that only 2 thru 6 are not affected by the dive-in movie. I ended up reserving #2, because he said that of the 5, it was closest to the slide. Hope this was good advice! ;) Now I'm thinking of calling back and reserving one of the other days. :Pinkbounc

Just reserved for my trip also - they recommended #1 or 2 for Friday movie also - right next to the pool restaurant/bar - we went with #1. We also booked for the weekend as we'll be there over a holiday weekend (MLK) and have an infant with us this trip- DS and I loved cabana # 10 on our last trip - it was a great place to hang out throughout the day and night! Do you have this link that shows the pool set up and where the cabanas are?: http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/hrockmap.html

bjakmom, how was the sun in cabana 10? We booked this one for a wednesday during our upcoming trip.

tarheelmjfan, when are you going? Maybe we will be neighbors!:bounce:

bjakmom,
Thanks for the link. I tried to search for a link last night and the search feature was enabled.

netnurse31,
We're going to be there July 17th to the 21st. I am so excited. We haven't even seen the HRH. The last time we were there, we stayed at PBH when they had just opened. Only about 1/3 of their restaurants and shops were opened. We loved it anyway, and are really looking forward to HRH. :Pinkbounc

Could someone explain exactly what the cabana is used for and why would someone want it? I've never stayed anywhere with cabanas so I'm a little confused. We are staying 5 nights in October at the HRH and am not sure if we'd need it or not? Thank you!!!

netnurse - # 10 was very shady last August from 3PM - 10, which is when we rented it. We were looking for the shade, so it was perfect for us, I think for our trip next Jan we will be renting on the other side of the pool so we can warm up in the sun. If my memory serves me well (which sometimes it doesn't!) I think there was sun in front of all the other cabanas near ours, # 10 is the last one and kind of tucked into the corner.

tazz - we rented a cabana last trip because we were pool hopping over to HRH from RPR and were supposed to meet up with friends from Fla. They couldn't make it, but DS and I enjoyed the cabana very much!! It was shady and cool (ceiling fan), had a table, chairs, lounges, tv, refrigerator with drinks/sodas, basket of fruit. We ate a late lunch/early dinner from the pool bar- they brought the food right to the cabana. We were able to change in and out of our suits in complete privacy - went back into USF for a few hours and then returned to the pool to swim and read until it closed. This year we are renting a cabana because there will be 5 - 8 of us, including a 5 mos old and we know it will be a great place to have for the day and hang out together. I'll see if I can find the thread that shows pictures of the cabanas.

Okay, so I looked at the map and now I'm confused. The highest cabana number I have seen mentioned is 10. If I'm not mistaken, I'm counting 11. Could someone please explain the layout and numbers of the cabanas? Thanks again!

I wondered the same thing!! I only know for sure that # 10 is the last one before the slide (about 9 o'clock on the map) and #1 is the nearest to the pool bar (about 1 o'clock on the map) - don't know where the extra cabana comes in !? Anyone else know? - if not maybe someone will check it out while there and let us know for sure.

Hi there Universal experts! This thread is the first I have come across regarding these cabanas ... I would like to ask a couple of questions that I'm sure you will have the answers for ...

Is the Hard Rock the only resort to offer cabanas?

How far in advance can you make reservations?

Does anyone have the number to call and what hours can you make reservations? (I am on the west coast)

How much does it cost?

Are there "blocks of hours" that you reserve, or is it on a daily basis?

Is there an extra charge for the Dive-In movie?

Is there a server that "services" the cabanas?

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!

Hi Mindy - I can answer some of your questions:

Not sure about PBH, but have seen the 3 cabanas at RPH - they looked smaller, placed in a little grouping right by the hot tub - not as private as the ones at HRH. Might be worth renting one there if you needed it on check out day (IMHO).

I have already made ressies for next Jan - last trip I made my res long before a rate change and they charged me the old rate - only a 4 hour cancellation policy, so definitely worth making in advance.

Call HRH directly 407-503-7625 and they will connect you to the fitness center to make res - this is also where you go to check in and pay.

I got rate of $40 for club level - she did say I could rent AM until 3PM or 3PM until pool closed, but 40 was the club level charge no matter, so of course I took all day. I think I've read that the more recent charges are $50 (55?) 1/2 day and 75 or 80 (?) for full.

No extra charge for dive in movie - just remember that they close down #5 or 6 through 10 when they show the movie (at least that's what they told me).

There are servers walking all around the pool area - we ordered lunch from a server and she brought everything right to the cabana- it was great - also will serve cocktails - same at RPH - they'll bring you drinks and food right where you lay!! Ahhhhh!:smooth:
