DAY 4 – Tuesder

Sizzlers for breakfast and the kids were much happier.
We like Sizzlers. It’s more light, airy and comfortable than Ponderosas and we think the food is better too. There’s certainly more to Julie’s likin (not that there’s not enough at Ponderosa) coz it’s always her we have to drag away when it’s Park time.
It started rainin as we ate brekkie but had stopped again by the time we came out.

Got to EPCOT around 10ish and there were loads walkin from the car lot and even more queuin to get in – seems a lot of other people had made this their dull day option. Worse still there were some people comin back out already – was it that busy?

The queue for Space Ship Earth was horrendous so we walked straight round to Journey to Imagination. It looked shut as we followed a CM through the door as there was no one else in there. The CM assured us it was open and another couple joined us as we boarded the cars.
We didn’t like his when we did it the first and only time- thought it was borin – but had read it had been updated and Figment (who we’d not seen) restored. Thought it was good and the kids seemed to enjoy the interactive stuff in the ‘open-house’ So much so, they went back in there when we went to see ‘Honey I Shrank the Audience’ – Julie’s scared of the mice and Gaz of the snake – Wuss (Gaz, not me little Princess)

Me and V loved HIStA – the audience reaction ‘makes’ the show for me. It was 11:03 now, so I told the kids to go do their own thing while me and V headed for World Showcase – Morocco Tax Free Beer was open! – we’d meet them beside Ice Station Cool at 1pm for lunch.

We walked all round UK lookin for Carolyn’s Simon but no could do.
Through France and up to the tax free bar in Morocco.
WSC was empty – they must all still be on Space Ship Earth. We’ve been there when it’s quiet but this was one man and his dog stuff.
We got a beer for me (coz I’m drivin) and a Strawberry Daiquiri for V –coz DFM recommended them. I’d bought the readymade mix and added vodka at ‘home’ so she wanted to try a real one to see what they were supposed to taste like.

Whoa !! , “Goodbye Margarita, hello Daiquiri !!!!”

Far too strong. I’d have loved one of them, but didn’t dare have more than the taster sip I just had to have. Not that V made any effort to offer uz any, so she must have liked it. Was very careful guiding her round the Hummel and crystal shops in Germany – she can’t drink in the afty!

We did the boat ride in Mexico – one of our favourites –then set off back to Future World. It was only 12:15 so we browsed through Mousegear and the kids met up with us in there, cutting through as a short cut from Test Track.

Oh, forgot to mention the other day. When we watched Reflections our first night, we had me favourite and best spot on the railins beside the margarita stand. A couple had turned up with a double buggy just before the show and asked if we’d mind if their littluns could stand in front of us to see the show. V said course not and let them in. The lady asked ‘how many in yer party?’ and gave V 4 ‘walk straight on’ tickets for test track. Turns out she’s a CM and always carries a wad of these tickets to reward any that show her a kindness –so that was nice.

Anyway, by the time the kids found us the new plan had been evolved –we’re good at changing things on the move. We’d skip lunch at Epcot, do Ellen’s Energy and Cranium Command and Spaceship Earth then head back to the villa for snacks.
These three rides are probably V’s favourites in all of WDW (mainly coz there’s no danger of fallin out) and we enjoy doin them. But the effect of each is diminishin overall due to the ‘sameness’ I spoke of at Sea World yesterder.

It’s becoming a trend on the holider, this time, to do less and enjoy the park and atmosphere more than the attractions themselves. It’s probably how the rest of yers have always done yer holiders but is a bit of a shock to me. I’m enjoyin meself, don’t get uz wrong. But it feels like I’m not doin me holider right in a sort of way – coz I’m not rushin around and feel I must be missin summat/ wastin valuable time. I’m sure it’ll settle down, but it’s a bit unnerving this early in the holider to be wonderin if we’ve ‘over-done’ Orlando.

(Course the real fear is I think I might be growin up.)

Since we’d entered Epcot, it’d been lovely and warm, though still cloudy/dull. The kids were longin to use the pool at the villa so we figured nice warm day, no real plans and cheaper food. The kids snacked on crisps and goldfish (biscuits, not Dave’s pets) and had an hour in the pool. It was getting hotter and the sun broke through while me and V sat poolside so we lay bastin for a bit.

Back out around 6ish, we’d decided to make for Golden Coral then on to Disney Quest. We’d not done GC before, though been tryin to find one for the last two trips. Now found, don't think we’ll eat anywhere else – couldn’t believe they let you have unlimited steaks and the overall choice was so huge. Everyone rated it ‘top place’ for an all-yer-can-eat.

As soon as we got to West Side we got our tickets for Cirque (week Wednesday) usin our AP discount and me plan was complete.

Into DQ, it seemed strange not havin to make a bee-line for the Internet Couches to catch up with yous lot and we had a great time playin with the kids on all the games. DQ was busy enough so you had to stand to get on the best simulators but easy enough to walk on the lesser games etc.

By 9.30, Gaz looked to be on his last little legs, though I was surprised how well I was shapin up, given me early wake-ups. ( I’d snatched a couple of minutes kip on Ellen’s Energy ride and a couple more around the pool, so that probably recharged me batteries). We made our way home and I could feel the tiredness creepin up on me as we neared home. So will make a point of headin back before 9 in future – or until me sleepin gets back normal. Slept till 5 this mornin, so is nearly there.

Had one Bud – if I’d started talking to Sam Adams, he’d have insisted on uz havin another –then straight to bed.

Boy, was I tired.

Julie’s Bit at the end

We went to Epcot and gaz and me went off on our own with $40 spend. We spend most the time in innoventions and on Test Track then we met up with Mam and Dad.
Later we went back to the villa were gaz and me went swimming. We really liked the pool. At first Gary and me wouldn’t get in because the pool wasn’t heat and in the end I pushed Gary in and jumped in myself.
We all then went to DQ were we played on the games, went on buzz lightyear blast off and mighty duck pinball (I got the highest score out of us four)
After we went back to the villa and had a drink then went back to bed.

Mmmm must try a Strawberry Daiquiri...sound yummy :D

Another great report.

Well, at least you've slowed down a bit. I was having to take oxygen before reading!

It's good to read that the Journey to Imagination ride has been much improved - we'll look forward to going on there next time.

Shall have to try one of these Daiquiri's they do sound pretty good (I'll avoid the crystal shop afterwards though I think!) :)

Astrid

Crumbs, lucky two getting $40 to spend!! GC sounds good, on the imaginary plan!!

I like the Family Summary ratings! I'm with you and Gary on the Test Track rating Julie :)

I love Ellen's ride in Epcot - I remember the first time I went on it years ago, never seen anything like it and I still grin all the way around now:rolleyes:

Why are you up so early - is it the excitement or you just can't sleep for long?

I love trip reports - keep them coming!!!!!
