DAY 13 – Unlucky for some?

Well it was for the Americans coz I’m still here!!!!

This (today) is me last full day so this’ll be the briefest ‘notes’ yet – got a lot to get done today and am fillin up already.

Yesterder?

Got them out by 8:30, with the promise of brekkie at Golden Coral. Gaz is full of cold now and says he doesn’t want any breakfast, coz of his headache.
Course, my cold is much worse but I’m not missin me scran – “feed a cold” me Mam always said. “Even when yer obviously the illest in the family- but not sayin anything about it.”

We’ve now adopted Golden Coral as our Official Family Foodery. The breakfasts were every bit as recommended, though we didn’t get an omelette made the kids will vote or anywhere that does Pizza for breakfast!

Into Epcot by 10, we walked through Innoventions waitin for the 10.50 Jamminators spot and caught them this time.

Then Me and V headed for World Show Case and the kids went off to amuse themselves. It was red hot already and V wasn’t bothered what we were gonna do as all the side-show stuff she wanted to see was scheduled for the afty and she wanted to see the Parade at AK more. So we set off to find Simon first and get a tax free beer in Morocco second.

We found Simon in the little Scotland and Wales shop and he was talkin to an American. We could tell straight away – coz we earwigged –that he loves his job out here as the enthusiasm was plain to see in his manner and voice. This American had more questions than Chris Tarrant and it was clear he was in for the afty. He asked about accommodation in England and accommodation in Scotland. The transport system in both countries – sorry Wales, he didn’t seem bothered about you – but maybe that came in his second hour!
Anyway me and V walked round the shop, waitin for him to go, so we could pounce on the poor ‘adopted’ Board CM and the American blokey just kept goin and goin.
I nearly butted in to ask if we could get a quick picture and get on with our lives

“Excuse me Sir, we’re only here for two weeks, would you mind…….?”

But Simon was bein so polite- and answerin everything the Guy threw at him with charm and genuine interest – we didn’t like to embarrass the Lad – yet! So I got a picture of the Fella(with Simon) to prove just how ‘bedded in‘ he was and went for me tax free beer in Morocco.

It was so hot outside , V asked if we couldn’t just go into The Rose and Crown coz it was here. Now I don’t ‘do’ The R&C coz the Bass was awful the one and only time we frequented the place, but it was hot and at least we could have a sit down inside there. And I could still go to Morocco for a tax free beer later.
They’ve got Boddingtons now –so we stayed.

Got talkin to a couple of Talk Jockeys from a radio station in Cincinnati – Jeremy and Rob of “Mix 94.1 at WVMX” – www.wvmx.com – who were doin a couple of days ‘research’ at Disney , and a nice couple from Southport – we were Brits so didn’t introduce ourselves – who’d moved out here 6 years ago.
We sat and talked with them for ages and had a very nice time (and another Boddies).

It was nearly time to go meet the kids so we went back to Simon’s little shop, hopin he hadn’t gone for his bait.
He hadn’t, but had another customer askin him all sorts of questions – the Lad must be worn out by the end of his day.
So waited till he was free and swooped afore anyone else could get in.

“Simon, I’m Dave and this is Valerie. We’ve come to take yer picture!”

He looked stunned(ish) – “wot no questions?”
Carolyn had warned him we were comin, so he was prepared(ish).
We had a nice little chat – had to rush to meet the kids and his little shop was busy – took his picture with V (on the piccie site) and fled.

Carolyn, yer’ve got a lovely lad there – but yer know that – it was a pleasure standin watchin him work. He has a natural charm and enthusiasm about him and is so confident and good with people – he’ll go far I’m sure.

Met the kids and asked how their mornin had been. They’d been to Magic Kingdom!
They thought Future World was too busy. J had had two front of line turns on Test Track with those tickets they had left from the other day (Gaz’s head still hurt too much) then decided to go on an adventure.
Magic Kingdom was busier so they came back but had had a very nice time.
Oh, and they were eatin burger and chips so they’d managed to look after themselves an’all

We moved to Animal Kingdom around 2sh and went straight to the Rapids. Got fastpasses for the kids to use from 3:10 and all stood in the 20 minute standby line to cool off. Seemed to take much more than 20minutes but we got on eventually and got cooled down. V doesn’t really like the Rapids at AK coz of the first drop but she was very hot. The kids went back through FP and we went and sat with frozen lemonades.

We’d told the kids we’d stake a place for the parade at the end of the path so they could find us and we went there around 3.30. By 3:45, still no sign of the kids and V was startin to worry. No response from the walkie talkies and the usual stuff runnin through me head. They couldn’t have got passed us and sure nowt would have happened- but what if? Anyway, they turned up soon after. Gaz had decided he didn’t want to ride anymore so J had used all four FPs in succession, so had just finished.

We enjoyed the parade – it’s V’s favourite, apart from Spectro (and I’ll ask again after she’s seen the Snow globes this afty again) and left straight after to go to SeaWorld.

V and Julie wanted to get to SeaWorld in time to feed the dolphins- which we just managed.
Shamu Rocks was later than we expected, so we had an hour to kill. The boy was feelin a bit better but not that much to go on Atlantis or Krakken. We were parched (and had forgotten the refillable cup) so went to Hospitality – but got there a minute after it shut.
We were that thirsty I paid for a cup of pop EACH!

Too hot and bothered to walk round stuff for the sake of it, we just took our seats for Shamu and sat and chilled. Julie wanted to sit in the splash zone, so she went down early – she got soaked and was very happy.

They’ve changed the show – well the music anyway – and it didn’t have the same impact for me without Boston etc. It just sort of started and was ‘quiet’ compared to the proper version. Won’t bother doin that again.

Got home around 8, dropped the kids off, and me and V went to WalMart to get some pressies and stuff for home. And result of the day was buyin Whitesnake Greatest Hits CD for $8.98.

Ordered a Chinese when we got back and fell asleep at the end of The Great Escape –which is becomin a family tradition since we did the same at Clearwater last year.

Been awake all night again with V coughin and splutterin- and when she wasn’t, she was snorin!

Nasal passages, eh?

Don’t yer just love’em.

I‘ve chosen the picture of Simon with the American rather than the one of V to prove me point. Note the way he’s leanin against the wall in that ‘yer neighbour’s caught yer in the garden and got nowt better to do but bore the pants of you for the rest of the afty’ sort of way.

JULIE’S BIT AT THE END

We started the day going to golden coral where I stuffed my face with pizza. Gaz didn’t eat anything because he said he wasn’t felling well so I filled my pockets with cookies just incase he got hungry later in the day.
We went to Epcot and went through the usual routine of checkin the walkie-talkies, arranging a time and place to meet up before me and gaz left mam and dad because we didn’t want to do world show case.
We had 4 front of line passes for test track so went on twice each.
Next went to innovations but got bored after about 20 mins. We went to the fountain view café to get a drink while planning our next move. I said as a joke that we could go to MK and gaz said “Aye, alright then” so we tried about 12 times to tell dad the plan but he wasn’t answering the walkie-talkie so we decided that as long as we got back to Epcot by the meeting time it would be ok because we had the AP. We caught the monorail and traveled the MK and found it was just as busy as Epcot. We walked around and everything had a queue between 15-45 mins so decided to try halls of president thinking that never has a queue and we’ve never done it. The next show wasn’t till 12 and so we wouldn’t have time to see that and get back to Epcot in time to meet mam and dad. In the end gary was hungry so he got a hotdog (I had left the cookies in the car) looked through the sweet shop and got the monorail back to Epcot. We went to electric umbrella and got burger and chips and went to meet mam and dad. They couldn’t believe it when we told them what we had done.
We then went to AK and got fast passes for the rapids went on once with the whole family, once with gaz and then 3 times my myself so by the time I met up with everyone I was soaked. We sat on the path to watch the parade and by the time it had finished there was a puddle from where I had sat.
I had been bugging me dad about feeding the dolphins and he gave in.
I love dolphins and I love being able to feed and touch them.
When we went to see Shamu I realized I have been to Orlando 4 times and I still haven’t sat in the splash zone. I sat in the second row and got soaked I stunk of fish, was freezing, I could taste salt on my lips and it was the most fun I have had at Seaworld.
On the way home I had to sit on 2 ponchos to stop the seats from getting wet.
