Another Banking/Borrowing Question

Hi,
I'm brand new to DVC and just booked my first trip yesterday for May 2016! Yeah!. Anyway, I'm trying to plan out my 2nd trip for October 2017 which I will need a little bigger accomodations and may need to borrow from my 2018 points. My question is when will I be able to borrow them. My Use Year is February.

So if I want to book a trip for October 2017, will I have to wait until February 2017 when I get my 2017 to actually borrow from then next year 2018 (i.e. wait until 8 months before to book the trip). Use Year is a little confusing!

If you can book it, you can borrow for it.

Borrowing is not dependent upon when you make the reservation, but depends on when the reservation is for. If you can book it within your 7 or 11 month window, you can borrow points for it. You can book an October 2017 trip in November of 2016. And, since the trip falls in your 2017 use year, you can borrow from your 2018 allocation.

Realize that you never "get" points. You already have all of your points through the expiration of your contract. They just can't be used until your use year comes around.

an oct 2017 trip falls within your feb 2017 use year - that is when you will "use" the pts.

for trips that fall within your 2017 UY, you can use banked 2016 UY pts + current 2017 UY pts + borrowed 2018 UY pts.

as far as when you can call to book, that is based on your home resort - nothing at all to do with use year. so as supersnoop says, if you can book it, you can borrow for it.
