I received my free US ticket from the sweepstakes a while back. We are going to Orlando twice this year and I was wondering if US will allow me to use my free ticket and upgrade to an AP? If so how do I do this? Do I go to the guest relations outside the gate? Do I enter the gate first? Also does anyone have an idea of what the upgrade would cost?

NEW QUESTIONS:

1. What if I use my ticket to enter the park first. Can I upgrade to AP inside the park? If I do that how will they know it was a free ticket?

2. Need help with my fuzzy math LOL. It says with the premium pass you can get a 15% discount off additional tickets. Will this be off gate price only or can I use the 15% discount with the online tickets?

Someone please check my math. I will need 4 child tickets.

Buy 7 day/2 park tickets online for $99.99 x 4 = 399.96
Buy at gate with discount = (124.99 -15%) x 4 = 424.97

Or can I use the discount online like this
Buy 7 day/2 park tix online with AP discount = (99.99-15%)*4= $339.97

TIA
Thanks

Sure...you can upgrade to the AP. You can do it at Guest Services either outside or inside...doesn't matter. Not sure of the cost but it would be difference between the one day pass and the AP. If you want free parking and the park discounts, get the Preferred AP...if you don't care, get the Power Pass.

When they determine upgrade costs, they subtract the amount you paid from the cost of whatever you want. In the case of free tickets, since you paid nothing, there is no upgrade value.

In other words, you would not be able to upgrade a free ticket to an annual pass. You would have to just purchase an annual pass.

This is correct and accurate information. :goodvibes:yay::cheer2: Thanks!

Makes sense now that I read it. :thumbsup2

AP discounts are off gate prices only...online ticket specials are already discounted. Both the Preferred and Premier AP's have 10% off 1 park tickets and 15% off the 2 park tickets...so no additional discount off online specials.

OK so it is either one or the other. In that case I would be better off buying online before we go.

Also, I read the fine print on the free ticket and it states it is not upgradeable. So I guess that means no cheap AP for me. But it all works out anyway because DH says he just wants to do Disney now and US in September.

I appreciate everyone's input on this.
