If I understand previous posters, I will be able to upgrade a current AP to a PAP after 01/02, with the new DVC discount on the PAP, even though the AP was not discounted. Is this correct? We have a trip planned to WDW Dec.18-23, and I purchased a voucher for a regular AP for my 14-year-old at the Disney store. Then the new DVC discount was announced, and I thought maybe I should just purchase a 4 or 5-day hopper for her to use on this trip, and upgrade the unused AP voucher to a PAP with the DVC discount for our Feb. trip, but I really don't have the money to do that so close to Christmas. So now I plan to activate the AP in Dec., then upgrade it to a PAP in Feb., but I'm confused on how much money I will be charged for Dec.-Feb., and if the new PAP will begin in Feb., or have a Dec. renewal date. Can anyone help?

That is how I understand it as well.

Redeem your AP voucher now (12/18/04). When you return in February, which is after the 1/2/05 start date of the DVC discount, you should be able to upgrade the AP to a discounted PAP at no additional cost.

The ending date of the new PAP will still be 12/18/05 since the upgrade is retroactive to the original start date of the AP. But you should not have to spend any additional dollars out of pocket.

That's our plan too. We're buying our APs on 12/11 and we'll upgrade to PAP in July. It'll be a nice bonus to go to the water parks on a hot day!

We actually bought our AP's in July and are making another trip right before they expire. I'm going to try to upgrade them to PAP's for our trip. We'll be there for two weeks, and to be able to have the ability to go to the water parks and Disney Quest is just too good to pass up. I told DH that if we can get the PAP, we're going to become spoiled and want it every 2 years (we get two trips out of each pass). He said, well at least the DVC price for the PAP is the same as we're used to paying for the AP! So, I'm looking at the discount as a free upgrade to PAP!!!

Where do we go to upgrade from an AP to a PAP? Thank you.

Guest services at a theme park or Downtown Disney. Be sure to have your blue DVC ID along with a driver's license.

Just activated my AP the other day at Int'l Gateway and asked the CM if she could confirm that I could upgrade it to a PAP with the DVC discount when I return in January - she said that she didn't have all the requirements in the system for the DVC discount yet, but that she would assume so, since it is a 'standard procedure' to upgrade an AP to a PAP and, if I was a DVC member, I would be entitled to the PAP discount price in effect after 1/2/05 - so that matches what I was told on the phone by MS :smooth: - looks like I may owe them a few bucks as the PAP is a bit more than I paid for my AP - but I'll be able to use it for 2 trips next year !!
