Peggy Noonan in today Wall Street Journal:

But we have seen Mrs. Palin on the national stage for seven weeks now, and there is little sign that she has the tools, the equipment, the knowledge or the philosophical grounding one hopes for, and expects, in a holder of high office.

No news conferences? Interviews now only with friendly journalists? You can't be president or vice president and govern in that style, as a sequestered figure.

The Chicago Tribune and Michael Smerconish, too.

Does McCain have the endorsement of any major newspapers?

when you click on that clink it takes you to a list of papers that have links to click on the article saying they endorse him. I cant get one to work and the page says this as well:

JOHN McCAIN: "THE MAN TO LEAD AMERICA"

Over 50 Newspapers from the Early Primary States have Endorsed John McCain For President

Are these are from the primary? Since most of the links dont work I assume they are.

The Detroit News
The Detroit Free Press
The Boston Globe
The Boston Herald
The Los Angeles Times
Baltmore Sun
Chicago Tribune
New York Post
Newsday
Orlando Sentinel

and about fifty other big newspapers

I think those many be primary endorsements - the general election endorsements have been trickling in.

Here are some noted:

I am sure that there are other sources for these as well.......

Didn't I just see an interview with Clarence Page a few minutes ago, saying that The Chicago Tribune had endorsed Senator Obama today?

I'm sorry, I think my list is from the primaries. Regardless, I know who I'm voting for and you know who you're voting for. I don't think an endorsement from a newspaper is going to change that.

:)

I was curious about that list and did some research and came to the same conclusion.

Oh, right. Didn't mean to let the facts get in the way.

"Interviews only with friendly journalists"
Yeah, like Katie Couric. :lmao:

Katie Couric was very friendly. The questions were easy. Sarah's so stupid, she STILL messed up. C'mon!!! "What newspapers do you read?" "Which Supreme Court decisions do you disagree with?" Only a certified moron has difficulty answering such questions. And Sarah considers this gotcha journalism!!!!!! Poor Sarah. Poor, poor America.

Below, Noonan encapsulates exactly why I no longer identify myself as a Republican. That party is lost.

"In the end the Palin candidacy is a symptom and expression of a new vulgarization in American politics. It's no good, not for conservatism and not for the country. And yes, it is a mark against John McCain, against his judgment and idealism.

I gather this week from conservative publications that those whose thoughts lead them to criticism in this area are to be shunned, and accused of the lowest motives. In one now-famous case, Christopher Buckley was shooed from the great magazine his father invented. In all this, the conservative intelligentsia are doing what they have done for five years. They bitterly attacked those who came to stand against the Bush administration. This was destructive. If they had stood for conservative principle and the full expression of views, instead of attempting to silence those who opposed mere party, their movement, and the party, would be in a better, and healthier, position."

I love how Palin explained why she was so "annoyed" when answering the questions. All we could say was "oh my god, she doesn't even know what annoyed means!!"

She couldn't answer the questions because the media is mean. Sure.

She sounds like Andy from The Office: "Andy Bernard doesn't lose contests. He wins them. Or he quits because they're unfair." :rotfl:
