ANOTHER Adventure in Autism (4/15) A Taste of What's to Come...

Finally back at work after a week off so I can catch up on my DIS time.

So I am at "The Grove" in Los Angeles and what do I see but an "American Girl" store

Had to take a picture for you.

I looked up the word "Organized" in the dictionary and there was your picture :rotfl:

WOW I'm like Buzz, I thought that I was an organized person you put my little notebooks to shame...you are my IDOL. :thumbsup2

Welcome back!! :goodvibes Thanks for the pic of AG-Los Angeles! It looks like a gorgeous, sunny day! The day we took the girls to New York it poured rain. :umbrella: It didn't damper our shopping spirit, though! LOL!

And don't be fooled... if only my closets were as organized as my Disney stuff!!

Kathy

You are so right about the lists Kathy. I have already started my l ist for our next trip, which isn't until NEXT August.....:rotfl2:

Welcome back!! :goodvibes

Thanks, it's been a long 10 days, I would sometimes think about getting on the boards when we got home at around 11:00 p.m. or so but just couldn't do it.

I saw the store and asked Sorceress for the camera, when she asked why I told her about your updates...she handed me the camera and mumbled something about a 12 step program or an intervention...:rotfl2:

Hi Kathy -

I've been lurking on your pre-trippie for a while, but when you started to tell us about Tricia's AG doll going to Disney with your family it made my heart smile. Back in 1999 my cousin went on her first trip to Disney with her family. Her AG doll (I honestly don't remember which doll she had then) was staying with her maternal grandmother (Debbie) while she was gone. Debbie made an entire photo album of what she did with the AG doll while my cousin was gone. It was one of the most precious things I've ever seen.

I'm 30 years old, and I have Molly on a shelf in my bedroom. My mommie bought her for me because she looks like me. I change her outfits on a regular basis and my grandmother made her a Snow White costume to wear when I'm on my frequent trips to Disney.

Around the same time I got Molly, my grandmother was given an AG Doll that resembles my youngest cousin. She's on the dresser in her bedroom and changes her outfits very, very frequently. My Papa just made her a walking stick. He carved it and painted it.

So you can see, my family has also been touched by the AG dolls and I hope that Tricia will treasure them for a very long time to come!

Shadoe1031: :welcome: I'm glad you came out of lurkdom so I could wish you buckets of good luck for your upcoming wedding!! BTW, my mother has Molly, too! Reminds her of her own childhood... I guess I will have to get Janet, the girl from the seventies that will be coming out next!

jcc0621 Uh oh, guess I need a new sub-set...Super-advanced planning lists!! :rotfl:

mrsksomeday: See, I fixed my ticker!! ::yes::

dismom9761: Keep doing a little each day; it will all get done eventually. :upsidedow (Especially if you enlist the help of others!) Delegate, delegate, delegate!!

Who'sYourMickey Well, I don't knit, scrapbook, or square dance, so I guess this is my hobby!! :goodvibes

Hedy: Thanks! (I wonder if this will count as my 15 minutes of fame?)

Thanks to all for reading and/or posting!

But what I want to know is, can you say Ticker Tinkering ten times really fast?? (No one took the challenge!) :lmao:

Now that was just mean! And before I finished my first coffee of the day even :surfweb:

PS: I'm a list maker too but I'm still at the post it note stage. You should see my desk. Once I write something into my Disney notebook, it's official (I hate crossing stuff out... it looks messy :p) and I'm not quite ready for that yet :teeth: Good thing I transferred my ADR confirmation numbers to the official book ages back because Minnie ATE that post it :headache:

PPS: I've started my pre-trip shopping now... got a great deal on a 2-pack of 2GB cards for the camera a few days ago :thumbsup2

Hi Kathy!

I noticed you posting to Christamae's TP. I saw your autism pretripie and wanted to subscribe. I have a 9 year old nephew that is autistic. Much like most autistic children, he has good days and bad days, but I would not trade him for the world. Can I ask where you found the autism jibet? My DSIL would love that.

Can you blame her, Barb?? After all, they're so colorful, and probably a decent source of fiber!!:rotfl:

Our2Girls&Disney: I ordered the Autism Awareness Ribbon jibbitz from www.jibbitz.com. That reminds me, I have to check if they have any Minnie jibbitz in stock now!! ::MinnieMo

I love your organization. I always thought I was bad with it. Although with my new husband I am not as organized when it comes to our Disney Trips. With my ex husband he is worse than me when it comes to organizing a trip. But now my new husband doesn't like to plan a vacation, he likes it all to just come as it comes. That drives me crazy.

Just for an example of my Disney planning. I have a notebook of all the menus from all the Restaurants in Disney. I have printed them all over the years off the Different Disney sites. It needs a little updating, I haven't updated it in a little while. But when I am planning a dining trip, I have it handy where I can sit down at the dining room table and can spread out and figure out where I want to eat and when. It is organized by Park/Resort and then type of food, sit down/counter service, etc. All in a binder with tabs, etc.

I told my husband that for our Dec 2008 trip we were going to try it my way. He would not give in entirely but he said we will compromise and do some of both... :confused3... I guess I can't argue with that statement. I said "but if we decide to do the dining plan, that will be entirely planned. You can't have that any other way." DH: "OK, fair enough. But we won't have a spread sheet of what rides to ride when and have bathroom breaks etched in between. I will not take it to that level." Me :"OK, fair enough." :sad2:

thanks for tht link. The Minnie is in stock.I love the Mickey hat.:thumbsup2

I was so happy about the Minnie jibbitz being available finally!! :cool1:

This jibbitz thing is becoming as bad as pins!! I ordered Minnie (because Mickey just needs to have his sweetheart with him on my shoe), but then I felt bad for Donald, so I got Daisy for him!

Then, I realized that my "Mickey and Friends" shoe would have more jibbitz than my "Pooh and Friends" shoe, so I went ahead and ordered Owl and Lumpy so the two shoes would be "even"!! (BTW, where's Kanga and Roo??)

I think my next post will have to be about the dangerous Pin Mania that takes hold of Tricia and me the minute we set foot on WDW property!! Who needs diamonds and pearls :snooty: when you can drape yourself with lanyards full of shiny new PINS!!! :woohoo:

Kathy:

Just wanted to let you know I followed you to this trippie from your marathon trippie. I'm really excited to keep following this one, so you're up 1 subscriber :)

I've really been looking at doing the Disney marathon for a while now, and am aiming for 2009. I'm keeping your trippie bookmarked so I can reference it as needed. Just talked DH into doing his first 5K a few weekends ago, so I'm hoping I can get him talked into the family 5K or *gasp* the half-marathon :cheer2: .

The family 5k is a blast. Anyone can run 3 miles and when you've got Cast Members & Characters cheering you on the whole way (set to music) and the wonderful views of Epcot prior to opening, how can he say "no"?

I had a 9 year old racing me the entire way and I retired from running soon after he beat me to the finish line. I ran a 25 minute 5k and received a picture of myself running on a plaque that hangs in my office. The nine year old beat me by a good 10 seconds.

Buzz, If there had been bagel dogs waiting for you at the finish, instead of oranges and bananas, you would have beaten him for sure!! ::yes::

I've just started back on my walking routine; hopefully as the weather cools off I'll get back to running! I promised Ed that I would actually run the Family Fun 5K this time! BTW, this year we're running through the Animal Kingdom! Ed is doing the Half again.

I'm really commited to it now... already booked the airfare and a room at the Poly!!

I wonder if I should do a separate pre-trip report for Marathon Weekend, or just include it in this one?? (Like "a play within a play") It might get too confusing, though! Hmmmm. :scratchin

Leave it in this one and we'll call it an "Arc". :thumbsup2
