Hi all. I am planning to arrive on the 3rd to start our trip this summer. I think we will probably stay at RPR through the 7th. I have been to the Disney parks for the 4th but never any of the Universal parks.

Can anyone tell me what it is like?

Are there special activities planned for the 4th or is it pretty much just a regular day?

DD wants to go to SW too, so would we be better off going to SW on the 4th and staying away from US/IOA?

Any other thoughts you have?

Thanks so much in advance for all of the help you all give around here.

Hi loribell, we where at the RPR last July, there was plenty going on ,at Citywalk , they section of part of it for an American cookout, not sure of the price but you need to book it , and gives excellent views of the Fireworks.
We stayed at the pool at the hotel and headed over to US and with the FOTL ,we never had any thing you would call waits for attractions, Oh we ate before going into the park at Nascar cafe which was not to bad.
One thing i would say, we stayed in the park and watched the fireworks, then headed back to the hotel, getting back was a nightmare, if we go back for the 4th again i would recommend watching them from some where like margaritaville or anywhere on that side of Citywalk.

Universal presents one of the largest fireworks shows in Orlando. The two parks each have their own (nearly) identical show. We used to watch it from off property every year, which was nice since you could focus on both sets of fireworks, but recently they've been toning down the larger fireworks and have relied more on the smaller, low flying pyro that is set off from each park's lagoon. So you'll miss sections of the show if you aren't watching from inside one of the parks. If you do decide to catch the show from one of the parks, be prepared for the ensuing chaos. It can take roughly an hour to get out of there in those slow moving crowds (which is amazing for what's usually a 10 minute walk.)

Thanks for the replies. So if you had 5 days total to spend 4 at Universal & 1 at Sea World, would you go to one of the Universal parks on the 4th or go to Sea World? Which park would you think would be the least busy?

Thanks again,
Lori

I think all parks will be busy that day. Since you will have FOTL, I would stick with US/IOA.
We were in the RPR on the 4th 2 1/2 yrs ago. We watched the fireworks from our room. It was amazing. We could see the fireowrks from all 3 US/IOA/CW.
Off in the distance we could see WDW's and I believe SW's too.

Thanks for the input sha_lyn. That sounds like a great way to spend the evening of the 4th. Do you remember what part of the resort you were in? Should we request any certain area?

there is a thread here with reports on rooms try a search or look through the threads.
Tower 1 seems to be popular, we where in tower 3 i think could not tell you room or but it was really quiet

I can't remember. Tower 3 maybe? We had a perfect view of IOA. We woke to the sounds of the test runs of hulk every AM (not that it was loud enough to wake you, just that we could hear it when we woke up). The map here on the dis is for the entire USO resort. IF I find a map I'll come back and post
