ANOTHER 21 days in WDW+DXDDP=hundreds of food pics (COMPLETED 3/2!)

Awesome update! I'm doing CRT for breakfast, because it's hard to mess up breakfast food, lol.

The filet at Le Cellier is one of the best menu items on property in a 1TS dinner, imo.

Your reviews are wonderful!:) They are making me hungry sitting here. One day I hope to try the deluxe dining plan.

Uh oh - inedible is not good!

Love your review of Le Cellier. The mushroom filet mignon is wonderful! I really wanted to love the cheese soup after all the rave reviews I had read of it, but somehow I just couldn't get on with it :confused3 though the breadsticks were fantastic!

You know, I'm sure when we last ate here (which admittedly was a few years ago) that the 'Smores (and the chocolate Moose) were on the children's menu rather than the adult one (though I'm sure adults could still have ordered them).

Mmm Le Cellier looks good!

Do you think the creme brulee is always served cold? I actually prefer mine cold!

Love the reviews, I always get so excited when I see you posted a new one!

Great updates. We totally enjoyed Le Cellier. That filet was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. I liked the creme brulee better than I thought I would, although it wasn't my favorite.

How was it being two adults at CRT?? I desperately want to go, but DBF thinks we'd be the only two without kids there.
I loveeee your reviews!

Thank you very much, I hope you enjoy the deluxe plan if you get round to trying it.

No inedible is definitley not good! I first had the cheese soup two years ago and really wasn't impressed at all, but I figured I'd give it another try and really liked it this time. Not sure if the soup changed or my tastes, or if I just got a bad batch the first time.

The smores and moose definitely used to be on the childrens menu, but now they are just on the normal menu. Probably due to the ddp and Le Cellier not wanting to give away a $6 dessert for a childs credit?

Mmm Le Cellier looks good!

I'm not sure, I would imagine they always serve them cold. Thank you very much, I'm glad you're enjoying my reviews.

Silly me, of course it is :lmao:

Great updates btw- that magical star cocktail looks good :thumbsup2

Thanks, that's one of my favourite cocktails in WDW.

It wasn't too bad actually. We were definitely in the minority but there were other all adult parties there. I thought we might feel out of place, but that wasn't the case.

Thank you.

I'm so in!!:thumbsup2

We are going to WDW next March as I am MOH in my friend's DFTW:) We are staying for 10 days. Every restaurant we are eating at on our trip, except Ohana, is on your list so I am excited to read your take on the places. We LOVE Le Cellier and Raglan Road. The salad your DH got at Raglan Road is usually delicious by the way. The goat cheese is usually my favorite part. Wonder what was wrong that night:confused:

Can't wait to read more!

Great reviews!

Thank you very much.

where are you?!:surfweb:

Sorry. My laptop power pack finally gave up, and it took a while to find a new one.

wow great review

Thank you.

Thanks for joining in. Hope you enjoy your trip in March and being MOH for your friend. I'm MOH for my sisters wedding in May, but unfortunately I couldn't convince her to get married in Disney and she's getting married in Mexico instead!

DH has had the goats town salad a couple of times before and really enjoyed it, so I'm not sure why it was so bad that night.

We used snack credits again for breakfast today, this time at Kringla Bakery in Epcot. Again we'd picked up the snacks when leaving Epcot the previous day.

We shared a School Bread and a cinammon roll. The school bread was gorgeous as ever, but so much smaller than they were a couple of years ago. I love the creamy, custard style filling and there was plenty of coconut flavour from the toasted coconut topping.

The cinnamon bun was very sweet with thick, caramel icing. The pastry was flaky and soft, a good cinnamon roll, but a stronger caramel flavour than cinnamon.

We had a 12:00 lunch reservation today at Sci Fi Diner. Although the food is never brilliant here, we just love the theming and always try to fit in a lunch here.

They were really busy at check in, and we were told they were running about 20 minutes behind. It's a small check in area with very limited seating, and as you're not given a pager everyone was just standing around waiting.

We were finally seated at 12:20, and our waiter greeted us straight away. He was very friendly, but the service seemed much slower paced than it usually is there, we were there over an hour for a 2 course meal, whereas normally they're rushing you to turn over the tables.

To drink I had a Marsha's Martian, which was Baileys, Kahlua and Chocolate milkshake. It was very good, but very sweet and you were able to taste the Baileys and Kahlua.

DH had an Oreo cookie milkshake which was also very good. Very thick and chocolatey, with plenty of oreo crumbs.

For an appetiser we shared the Double dip for two, which was chilli and a spinach and cheese dip. The chilli was very good, not too spicy and packed with plenty of kidney beans (which I love), topped with grated cheese and hopped tomatoes. The spinach and artichoke dip was creamy, with a thick cheese topping. There were plenty of chips, overall a nice, filling appetiser.
Sci_dips.jpg

While ordering our server pointed out that although the dip served two, it only counted as one appetiser on the dxddp, so we could order another app if we wanted. DH decided to get the onion rings, which he said were very good, thick rings of onion, crispy batter and served nice and hot.
Sci_onion.jpg

My entree was the chicken sandwich with bruschetta topping, and bean salad. The bread was very soft, the chicken was a whole breast which was a little dry, and the tomato topping was nice. It could have done with more topping, as overall it was quite a dry sandwich. The bean salad was ok, the beans, apple pieces and onion were tasty, but there was lots of celery in it (which I can't stand!).
Sci_chicken.jpg

The veggie option was Seared Marinated Tofu with a mango glaze. DH said the tofu had been well marinated and had a good flavour to it, the mango sauce had a hint of spice to it, served with crunchy beansprouts and well cooked rice. Overall he really liked this dish.
Sci_tofu.jpg

We skipped dessert as we were both full, so our waiter allowed us to have bottled water in place of dessert which was nice of him. Overall we enjoyed our meal here, the theming is so good everyone should try it at least once.

On the way out of DHS we stopped at Starring Rolls to get tomorrows breakfast. We chose two cupcakes and we had a couple of bites of them that afternoon (they looked too good to wait until the next day!). I had a butterfinger cupcake, which was a soft cake, with tons of frosting, coated in chocolate butterfinger pieces. It was so sweet you could only eat a little at a time, and even after nibbling on it for the next two days, some of it still had to be thrown out.
SR_butter.jpg

DH had a chocolate peanut butter one, which was very similar to mine but he said it had a strong peanut butter flavour. Very good use of a snack credit, but in the future we'd definitely get one to share between us!

So glad you're back and updating! That peanut butter cupcake looks incredible- was it terribly sweet like the Butterfinger one? i'm more of a savory lover, I don't enjoy the overly sweet stuff. :sad2:

Mmmmmm, Marsha's Martian. :cloud9: One of my favorite milkshakes ever! :thumbsup2

Enjoying your reviews, as always. :goodvibes

I was tempted to try the tofu dish at Sci-Fi, but was leary of the mango. I don't like sweet with savory. I ended up with a veggie burger and was very happy that you could have sauteed mushrooms and cheddar added. The fries are really good there!
Enjoying your reviews!

You are probably right. I suppose that's my point though, indirectly; the child's dessert didn't cost as much as $6, most definitely not (as I wouldn't have let my children have them ;) :D ). I want to say it was only $3 though I am going back to 2006 here.

I may have to try the soup again, then? When I had it it was rather bland and the blandness combined with the wallpaper paste texture didn't work for me. But perhaps it was a bad batch.

Anyway, moving on! Nice review of the Sci Fi (I thought DH's entree looked lovely). I am loving the look of your cakes :thumbsup2

Thanks. It wasn't quite as sweet as the butterfinger one but still very sweet, mainly due to the huge amount of fondant.

Marsha's martian is fab isn't it. I'm really enjoying your latest review too, I haven't had time to comment but it's fantastic as always!

I think it had a taste of mango, but it wasn't really a sweet dish so you may have enjoyed it. DH had a veggie burger at sci fi a couple of years ago and enjoyed that too.

Yeah, I honestly didn't like the soup the first time, but enjoyed it this time, it definitely had a spicier kick than before. I guess the texture was still thick and wallpaper paste like though!

Last year I really enjoyed my meal at Narcoossees while DH hated his, so I was hoping he would have better luck this time round.

We arrived at 7:45 for a 7:55 reservation. We had a walk around the balcony part to check out the views, then grabbed a seat at the bar. While waiting I ordered a Raspberry Mojito which was probably one of my favourite cocktails of the trip, just sweet enough from the raspberries and a good, strong mint flavour.

We weren't called until 8:25, when we were seated at a four top, on the lower level but not right next to the window. Our server was an older, experienced waiter and service started out very well. Unfortunately she had an issue with a table when they came to pay their bill (they had no dining plan credits left) which took all of her attention and well over 30 minutes to sort out, which led to slow service for us towards the end of the meal.

For an appetiser I chose the crispy duck roll. This was very nice, the duck was well cooked and flavourful, with a hint of spice. The pastry was very thick but still crispy, and the apple chutney was sweet yet spicy at the same time, and paired really well with the duck. I would have rated it as excellent but there was a big piece of bone in one of the rolls, which I nearly broke a tooth on!
Narc_duck.jpg

DH of course chose the cheese plate. There was no written description of the cheese supplied, but our server did explain what they were when the dish was delivered. There was some Cashel Irish blue cheese, Humbolt Fog Goats cheese, and a swiss cheese called Tete De Moine(which was very unique in terms of presentation). It was a nicely presented cheese plate, with tasty accompaniments of damson jam and dried fruit. DH really enjoyed the blue and goats cheese, but the swiss cheese was quite bland.
Narc_chs.jpg

For my entree I chose the Crab crusted Alaskan Halibut which I'd loved last year. This time round I really liked the dish but didn't love it. It was still a very tasty dish, but the crab crust didn't seem to have a really pronounced crab flavour. The halibut was very well cooked, the potatoes were soft and the lemon sauce was silky in texture and a good strong lemon flavour.
Narc_halibut.jpg

DH had the Fall Vegetables. Aside from CRT I think this was the worst vegetarian entree he had all trip. It was basically a plate of vegetables, with very little flavour or substance to it. It consisted of Asparagus which was well cooked, baby carrots (nearly raw), tempura squash (very watery and no flavour to the batter) and cauliflower gratin which was nice, cheesy and crunchy topping, well cooked cauliflower, but no real sauce to it. I think this is really poor effort to provide a veggie option, even a plate of pasta in tomato sauce would have been better than this and at least it would have been filling!
Narc_veg.jpg

For dessert I had the Almond Crusted cheesecake with cherry sauce. This was just as fantastic as last time and it remains my favourite dessert on disney property. The cheesecake was so soft and creamy, with the sugared almonds giving a bit of crunch, and complimented with a tart cherry sauce. Really, really good dessert.
Narc_chscake.jpg

DH had some apple dessert but I didn't write down the name of it. It was basically a sponge cake with an apple centre, an almost cheesecake style topping and accompanied by stewed apple. He said it was very nice but I was too busy with my cheesecake to take a bite.
Narc_des.jpg

Overall I had a very nice meal here, but DH was again let down by a very poor vegetarian entree. I love the location of this restaurant and it was great to watch Hallowishes while eating dessert, but I don't think I'll convince DH to return until the veggie option substantially improves.
