Anorexic Airlines

Chad you are calling people with a weight problem lazy and without willpower. If someone said that to you, wouldn't you be offended?

I have hypothyroidism and asthma. My asthma is not weight related and makes exercise difficult for me to maintain at a rate where I can lose weight. I eat a very healthy and well portioned diet and yet I have to work very hard to lose any weight. I'm also on medication that makes weight gain easy and weight loss difficult. I'm by no means a rarity.

Comments like what you are making just shows to me how little you really know about the struggle people go through to lose weight. I find your comments extremely uncouth and offensive.

Gee and people wonder why people are anorexic and bulimic and why people are opting for bariatric surgeries and risk losing their lives. Comments like what chad had is exactly why. To make those types of people happier to be around others. Sad isn't it that to be liked you have to be thin.

Some of us have lowered caloric intake, increased exercise and still haven't lost - me included. So perhaps that will help you to understand why that comment was unnecessary.

Also I wish the OP would change the title. Anorexia is nothing to be used in a way like this.

Your right, I apologize.

It should have been phrased:

Some overweight Americans seem to have a hard time grasping the concept of "Just Say No"

Your problem probably lies within your genetics.

And one of the kickers here is that the airlines are just using this as an excuse.

I mean, give me a break. This country has had a problem with weight for a long time.

Now the airlines are limiting the size of the bags like never before and charging more because of overweight people?

Shouldn't one balance out the other?

I think it's a crock.

Hey, maybe the fat people should have their own airplane sercice! That's what you guys are saying right?

If there was a stronger one of  I would use them in a second.

I agree with you. I'm usually not on this side of this particular argument as I really value my coach seat "air space" but I also feel the airlines are releasing these kinds of statements to justify jacking up fares.

The airlines KNOW that many of us are very touchy about seat space being invaded by the obese and it appears they are taking advantage of it-pretty scummy.

I'm just fortunate that I haven't gotten to the point that I take up two seats because I don't. I fit in my seat fine. The problem I have is getting my lap tray down. So I don't use it and therefore I go without a snack or a drink. I also choose to sit on the isle where I can control my arms hanging on the armrests and make sure they are out of the way of others walking by. I also make sure I apologize if I am overtaking my space at all (sometimes I slide down in the seat since I can't comfortably reach the floor and have to scoot myself back up in my seat so I don't look like a huge leach) and I always make sure I don't overutilize the armrest if I'm sitting next to someone I don't know. There are people who aren't that conscientious and they aren't heavy - they are just rude!
