Annual/Season Passholders - Free Dining Woes!

I may be one of the only ones who loathes free dining as this does nothing but jam up the parks and basically guarantees little to no luck getting adr's.

I agree with you. Plus we don't even like making a bunch of ressies because I hate being tied down to being in a certain place at a certain time.

I just want an AP or Florida Resident room only discount for August!

Are the tickets on the KTTK card? If so how do you save them until it is time To renew? Our renewal is march 2011. Can they give you a physical ticket instead ? We're running the numbers now to see if the ap or fla res would come out which would work better for us. I am not sure we want to prepay for the tics, then hold onto them and worry about losing them.

There isn't any reason why you can't just save the KTTW card. Use a Sharpie to write on the card that there is a ticket still on it. I believe if you want to spend the time or you want to give the ticket to someone else you may also go to a guest relations desk and have them convert to a separate Tyvek ticket.

I disagree that free dining jams up the parks. It's not completely dead in September like it used to be but it is not jammed. I still was able to walk onto most MK attractions on Labor Day last year. It does, however, jam up the restaurants.

We have a package booked for CBR in sept/oct. We currently have 6 days of tix and a GAD ticket. Two adults traveling. We currently are using a 35% off pin which is saving us about $728. Later today I plan on trying to get the free dining for 10 days, which will put us back on the normal room rate and save us an additional $111. We have been throwing around the idea of getting an annual pass. We are not florida residents so the annual pass would cost us a total of $1040 instead of the $707 we would spend on park tickets. Would we be better off adding just a two day park ticket to our package, get the free dining, then upgrade to an annual pass when we arrive? Anyone know if this can be done, so we would get the free dining and an annual pass?

Yes.. but buy ticket for the length of your trip and upgrade at the END of your trip to the AP.

Why?

Because separate the tickets from dining credits on your room key in the middle of your trip (as must be done to create an AP) .. can often screw uip the dining credits if the CM doesn't do it EXACTLY right. It's tricky.

There's no reason to do it at the beginning vs the end of the trip so why not wait til the end .. and minimize the chance of a dining credits nightmare.

And for some of the previous posts...

Otherwise.. any tickets bought in any name aren't locked to that name til the first use.. So any never-used ticket is 100% transferable..

So whoever wanted to do that.. you can.

So I want to clarify this. I had an annual pass, and we did a free dining promotion so we had to get a one day pass. I used the card for dining, but never used the one day pass on it. I can now give that credit to a family member?
