Annual passport sponsorship update

Thought this would be of interest.

I have a Dream annual passport that expires in July 2008; having bought it on our visit this summer, along with the rest of the family

Like others I have been using the sponsorship thread and successfully sponsored 3 people in order to get an additional year put on my annual passport. The sponsorers getting 10% off the purchase price of the AP.

As many know we have all been interested in what would happen once the current reported deadline of November for sponsor form passed.

With this in mind I sent off my completed form (by signed for delivery) to the Annual Passport office at DLP.

I received a phonecall this afternoon from the AP bureau. A very nice CM in the AP bureau explained that as all correspondance regarding AP's is in French, DLP thought they should phone me before I received my mail from them.

The summary of the conversation is that I have sent in my renewal to early I knew this but did not want to miss the deadline line So my sponsor form is being sent back to me.

I have been told that either in person or by posting the form back in June/July 2008; along with my current annual passport, that the passport will have the additional months added on for sponsoring others.

So there you have it folks.
AP renewals with the sponsor form can be completed by post as long as it is near your renewal date.
Sponsor forms will be accepted after the current deadline in November.

This will hopefully even out the frenzied rush, as I know a few have felt under pressure in trying to find sponsor

Here is the sponsor thread where requests and offers should be submitted.

The sponsorship programme is that that purchasers of new annual passports can get 10% off the annual passport price. The sponsorer in return gets additional months, up to a maximum of one year added on to their current passport

Once you own the annual passport for 1 month the holder can in turn sponsor new buyers

Does this mean that we can still send our forms out to people for them to be sponsored after the 9th November?

This is still something that is confusing me greatly, I would hate to send my form to someone, then for them to take it to DLRP, only to find they can't be sponsored because the form has expired!

I really need someone to read that form, who understands French, and tell me exactly what it means.
