Hi - I just got off the phone with CRO and asked about annual passport rates for June. I was told that I must have been the thousandth person who asked her about those today (and she did not have a Disney smile in her voice when she told me that). She said she does not know if there will be annual passport rates for then or any other time this year. (I hope she was just tired of people asking and didn't really mean that). I was advised if I want a room, I just better book and forgot about AP rates. I don't think that Disney should treat their bread & butter returning guests this way (just my humble opintion of course). So for what it is worth (and I know that other CMs in CRO have told others just to hang on) you may want to consider booking with the codes that are out if you havent already done so and then be pleasantly surprised if AP rates come out and are better than what you have booked. :(

We always book the resort we want at rack rate and then change them to the code or ap rate once they come out. I never wait for any codes or special rates first as the rooms might not be there. So far most public codes have been better then the AP rates for the last two years anyway and I doubt they would be any different this year either. I think Disney doesn't really care what they offer to AP holders because they know we are going to come most likely anyway to get the most out of our AP. They give out the public codes to try to get in some folks that might have had no intention of going to WDW. By the looks of these boards I don't think anyone waits for the AP rates to come out before booking rooms. They book then apply the codes as they come out. I hope you booked yours too! :D

I got a call from Disney today about another matter. She was being so nice, I asked about AP's. She said anyone giving info is guessing. They don't tell them til the night before, or the morning of their shift. She said that way, if someone was booking, and was asked..do you know when AP's will be out..they can honestly say no..they don't.

Having an AP does not gaurantee that there will be discounts - it is not a promised benefit of the AP.

I think IMHO that we will see less discounts offered now that the Disney Visa is around. Mu opinion is they will put thier efforts into enticing folks to use the Visa to earn discounts.

I can see that Visa thing backfiring.

I don't have the Disney Visa and I'm not planning to get one--we already have a Visa with a great interest rate and no annual fee.

We go to Disney at least twice a year--once with DVC and the other times with AP rates. If their Visa is the only way we'll be able to get hotel discounts, then we won't be staying on property after we use our DVC points.

We can't be the only ones thinking this way?

As I said it is JMHO.

Time will tell.

But (again only MHO) we have been spoiled in the last several years with discounts, that we now feel we are entitled to them. This is just not true - if the resorts fill with out discounts - then we will not see discounts.

I called CRO this morning looking for the AP rates as well, and I too was told that they are not out as of yet. She was still pleasant and very helpful with adjustments to my reservation, but this was 7:30am.

Then I asked to check if code CZF could be applied, and she asked me for my Disney Visa number. She went on to say that over the weekend, they decided to limit the code to just Disney Visa card members, which is how it was originally suppose to be.

So much for that! I did finally decide to apply for the Disney Card over the weekend, only for the possible discounts that may come with it. However, I don't have a card number yet.

I think they are really waiting longer to release the AP rates!

Well,

I wonder what that means for all the people that used the Disney Visa code and were told they didn't need a DIsney visa?

Lizzie,
I made reservations yesterday for June and the very helpful CM also told me that that code was only for cardholders. I asked her to check my reservations that I had made about a week and a half ago because I thought I had used that code on those. She told me that if I had made them before they changed the rule that I was okay. Only the reservations made after the change were subject to having the card. Hope that makes sense.

Hey thinkerbell

I too called today and the very nice CM also said the same thing. Since my reservation was booked before the change, they are honoring it. It is only new reservations made after that change that will require having a Disney Visa.

Thanks for posting. Now I know someone else was told the same thing.

I agree and I think the Disney Visa discounts will require you book and pay the amount with your card to get the discount.

I think you will see fewer over the board general public discounts in the future.

I was able to book at the CZF rate on-line without even a question about the Disney Visa or entering a code. I don't think not having a Visa will be an issue at all.

I disagree with Trekker and Sammie for a myriad of reasons, but I promised no more marketing lectures. :)

Thanks for the updates!
