What about Disney hotels? Is there a strategy to getting AP rates during peak times like spring break? My 40th is this March and I'd like to stay on site for the first time

Sounds like a great idea. Interesting in that my wife turned 40 last Saturday and we decided against the on-site hotels due to them being over $400 per night. Ugh! So we stayed at Embassy Suites and actually chose the location in Santa Ana, for $120 per night. Driving it took 11 minutes from parking spot to parking spot. And we saved about $300 per night. It also was nice and quiet there in the mornings with the huge breakfast. One day we even drove back mid-afternoon and had the free happy hour drinks. Very nice. Many people find the cost acceptable, but if you want an extra $300 in your pocket, stay elsewhere. We used some of the extra cash we had to buy more food and even a Duffy bear!

I read one post on here where someone called and asked for an AP discount when there wasn't a special going and they gave her 10% off. The room was over $500 before the discount.
