I just read on the UG website that annual passholders can now get the dining plan with a room only reservation! Wooo Hooo no more one day passes!:cool1:

Oh and Yay me for starting my first thread! ( I'm usually a lurker! hee hee!):rotfl:

Apparently this is going around but hasn't been officially implemented yet.

Can an AP holder still get the DDP if they are getting an AP discount on their room? or will they have to be paying rack rate on their rooms?

I'm assuming it's on an AP discounted room reservation. They offer CMs the DDP during the year (often during slower times) with their CM discounted room. So this would be similar. (Of course the CMs get to buy the DDP for a cheaper price than we do).

Can you post a link to the website where you read this?
I would love to see it but can't seem to find it

Thanks for the info

I heard this rumor last week, then called yesterday and spoke to a CM about it. He told me you can have DDP with an AP room discount, but NOT with other discounts such as AAA or Bounce Back. He also said you can add it to a rack rate room, but it has to be a new ressie, not an add-on to an existing ressie. :confused3 Not sure why that matters.

As far as we have been able to figure, this would also change your ressie to a package and make it subject to package rules - pay in full at 45 days out, etc. With the way they release AP rates so close to the actual dates you would almost need to be ready to pay your ressie in full the day you call to book.

Right now I have a room at rack rate for 3 nts, a room with a AAA rate for 7 nights, and a room with Bounce Back for 7 nts. DH and I are hemming and hawing about adding DxDDP to the one ressie IF we can switch to an AP rate instead of AAA. But since DS11 is an "adult" I just don't know if it is worth $70 per day when he won't eat that much. Maybe better to stick with DDE.

I'm sure they'll post the info on the AP website as soon as it gets sorted out.

Subscribing...I'd like to know too. We're planning to go sometime this summer...just trying to figure out what works into the schedule!

Although I'm thinking they will only allow it with rooms at rack rate. Disney has never allowed "double dipping", and they consider the DP a discount already (from what I've read in the past). If they do allow the AP discount in conjunction, then woo hoo, I'm in!

The AP discounts earlier this year were $50 off per night at a Deluxe resort. Last year it was $75 off. Maybe they are cutting the room discount and allowing us to add DDP. Which isn't really a good deal for us the more I look at the numbers.

I was told this morning that the DDP could be added in conjunction with the AP discount, but no other discounts would be allowed (AAA or bounceback etc). It can also be booked on rack rate rooms. It does convert the room to a package, so with that you would need to follow the package guidelines for deposits, full payments cancellation policies etc.

I think it's true.

I got an email (the UG Newsletter) stating that it starts Feb 20th.

AP holders no longer need to purchase a ticket to enjoy the DDP!

Check with your AAA office too directly, just to be sure. Always worth asking! :) I would think it would still be a package and require going through AAA.

I think this is really good news, now we can save a few $$$ by not having to buy a one day ticket for each of us. I was hoping that once they allowed DVCers to have the dining plan that eventually they would allow the AP holders to do the same.

Leave him off the reservation and just pay for the adults on the dining plan and pay out of pocket for what he eats. I am thinking about that issue too my DD usually wants half of my food and I don't finish a meal so we often skip the kids meal and just share an adult meal.

The only way to leave DS off is by not listing him on your room reservation, so they will not have a room keycard and if EMH-evening is important too you, he will not be able to get a wristband. When you add the DDP it is for everyone listed on the room reservation, it's an all or nothing deal.

I read this in the AllEars newsletter and I am so excited!  We're starting to accumulate those one-day MYW tickets since we love the dining plan so much. This doesn't work for our existing deluxe DDP ressie for December, but it helps with planning for next year.

I called this morning and asked about this. My 4yo son won't eat enough to be on a plan. They told me to leave him off the reservation, then add him on when we get there and he won't be charged for the plan.

I was able to get Pop at the AP discount (actually season pass discount) of $74 plus the DDP. Just called this morning.
