I've been debating buying APs for weeks. I finally took the plunge on Monday morning, and thank goodness I did. We're out of state, so if I'd waited one more day, it would have cost my family $900 more.

I'll be watching this thread closely...my husband and I are going to be there 8/17-8/20 for his 40th birthday. Fingers crossed that the stars all align and by some miracle we're able to get into the preview.

I wish at this point it was invite only for pass holders so I do not waste my time. or even a paid event

My other mini rant is in october I'm spending close to 7 grand for a deluxe resort (no discount going for 10 plus nights). the last thing i want to do is wake up at 3am multiple times to experience GE for the 6am to 9am window. There is nothing exclusive or relaxing about having to get up that hour to experience the land to avoid being in a sea of people

I would NOT count out Paid events yet. Gut feeling they will happen and might happen as early as October. Nov through Dec is a very busy time and if Disney really wants to max out SWGE they will add some paid events during those months.

I truly hope you are right! While I do not want to spend the extra money I want the option to experience at least 1 to 2 times without so much drama lol

If they don't extend the EEMH they better have paid events. I'm ready for either. I can't make a special trip for a preview.

But to have a paid event wouldnt the land need to be "ready"? And if the land would be "ready" by October, why wouldnt they open it up to maximize $$?

Are you talking about ROTR ride not being ready yet?

I could see them holding off the paid events until ROTR is ready. The rumors are flying around that it might be ready by Nov or Dec so it could line up with when they have some kind of paid events.

I would be more surprised if there aren't paid events for Galaxy's Edge. Now, I don't know when they will start (likely not until both rides are up and running for a bit) but if they can sell early morning access to Toy Story Land and for 3 rides in MK, they have to know they can monetize Galaxy's Edge

(and, depending on price/details, i would be willing to pay for it if it meant guaranteed access with lower crowds so I can fully experience/appreciate the land)

I would expect paid events to start dropping as they get Rise of the Resistance up and running. To me, it would be a hard sell to try to market an event without the entire land up and running.

Going back to the Pandora AP preview- here are some questions:

1. Did you have to stay on a Disney property to get a preview time?

2. How far in advance was the AP preview date announced?

Yes. I hope RotR is ready early! I wonder if both parks will open the new ride at the same time?

I am pretty sure that Pandora dropped on a Wednesday since we were on the Magical Express on our way to WL when I got the email from Disney.
I was thinking Wednesday as well. I’m at work right now, so I can’t go back through my emails to search (I’m an email hoarder. I get it from work lol)

Yes I agree.

I wonder if they are pushing hard to get it open by Holiday time so they could start with some paid events. That would really be the time do it with the parks being so crowded for Holidays I am sure TONS and TONS of people would be willing to pay for those events.

I leave for Disney World Saturday so i'm praying this drops before then. I don't want to be distracted by checking these pages while trying to enjoy my vacation.

This might be a silly question but when the link is released, will it be added to the end of this thread or will it be added to the first post? Trying to watch while at work and want to make sure I know where to look as I sit endlessly refreshing!
Even if it did get added to the first post by the time someone got it added odds are that it would be all booked up. I wouldn't wait around and check just there.

1. No. Open to anyone with an AP (for that one, for this one, obviously, only select AP)
2. Forget, though been answered elsewhere in this thread, couple of months

1. No you did not have to be staying on property

2. AP preview was announced a good 2 months before

To those talking paid events vs. Passholder events, they are not the same.
There are fewer guests at the AP events.
Just making that point

Very good point.

But at the same time, Paid events should have less people then open to anyone and free for all.

You do not have to be staying on property. I was working at home that day and just happened to check my personal email at the right time

It was announced prob two months before it the preview days. It was sometime mid March and preview days were mid May

Though I bet if they offered right now something that was $499/person and included early access to the land, the build your own light saber and build your own droid as part of the package they would sell out
