I’m a Canadian. Me, plus my husband and my 5 year old travel to WDW about once every two years - was planning to go yearly, but the pandemic happened! When we go we eat a lot of restaurant food and we stay in deluxe resort. We don’t tend to go to the parks that much - maybe 4 days per 7 day trip. I’m wondering if there’s any benefit to getting an AP, mostly from the perspective of getting a room discount. Any insight would be appreciated!

I am also Canadian and have had an annual pass for 3-4 years. While we were actually at Disney, it had some perks - some discounts in restaurants for example. But I had huge issues with the fact that I received ZERO communication from Disney as an AP holder. I tried several times to rectify it only to be told different stories each time - the best being that they couldn't sent me emails because of Canadian rules that would deem them as soliciting.??? I didn't buy that. I was never alerted to any AP holder discounts , despite the fact that American holders received notice and were able to avail themselves of the discounts. I was never able to get a room discount. I was never mailed anything. No welcome package, no magnet, nothing. Certainly didn't feel very special. We did get our money's worth with visits/tickets, but we can't go more than twice a year. So it wasn't a huge savings.
Long and Short of it - it didn't work for us, other than saving on tix.
As far as any perks, we really didn't get any.
Hope this helps!
