Is a Universal Annual pass worth it?

For 2,

Parent + teen.

may visit Orlando 4-5 times a year.

I vote yes
Get the preferred so no black out dates

Add up what it would cost you for separate multi trips to the parks and compare it to the AP rate

Go once with tickets and if you decide you will be returning frequently, then upgrade those ticket to the Ap before you leave the park during your time there

I appreciate your help.

So if I by a one day pass, we can upgrade it before we exit the Park? What is the window? That very day or upto xyz days? Planning on visiting this week and if it is very crowded, might just get the annual pass online anyway. What do you suggest?

Well, if you look at costs, the answer is pretty obvious.

Power Pass....$239 Preferred Pass.....$344

One day park to park ticket ... $155

So if you are planning on visiting more than two single days, the Preferred Pass is still cheaper. If your visits will not fall into the blockout dates for the Power Pass, then the Power Pass pays for itself in less than 2 visits.

You can upgrade at Guest Services inside or outside the park. You have to update before you ticket expires. So if you have a 2 day ticket, you need to upgrade on the second day you use the ticket.

And if you have a multi day pass and upgrade it the first day while in the park to the preferred AP, you can use it for discounts

The preferred AP allows 10 percent discounts off of Food and merch in the parks
Some places in city walk and onsite hotels also honor the discount
Blue man group shows have times during the year for discounts for preferred pass holders
take advantage of additional savings with the preferred AP
