Annual Passes Question

Im asking this here because I know lots of DVC members have AP's. Sorry if this is not the right spot!?!? My family purchased annual passes for our next trip to DisneyWorld that we have to activate before the end of December. We are planning a trip in mid December, but my husband just moved jobs and we are unsure if we are going to be able to go on the trip since he just started (today actually!) My question is, can we activate the tickets in December without actually going so they are good for a year from that point? Am I totally off? Thanks guys!:teacher:

Okay, I'm going to take a shot at answering this. No doubt someone with more knowledge will add more info. To activate, you have to be at Disney and exchange the vouchers into APs. All adults would have to be present if it's a DVC AP to show their driver's license address and a DVC card to confirm living in the same household. Once activated, the AP would be good for a year.

I don't think you can activate them by phone or online, only in person.

Cheshire Figment, the cm ticket expert on the theme park board, has stated that he believes if you don't activate them by 12/31/13, you can get a credit of the amount you paid towards a new ticket when you actually go, you'll have to pay the difference. But that's not official.

hmmm...that would be wonderful!

I asked this question a week or so ago, and got varying responses. Several DVC members stated that if you didn't activate them in person by the end of December, you forfeit the money paid.

Cheshire Figment answered pretty much what PP stated - he believed you would get a credit of the amount you paid towards another ticket if you couldn't activate it by the end of the year.

We are in almost the same position. I bought one for my 17 year old DS, thinking that he would get 2 trips in this year. He is going to college early, and can't take the 2nd trip, so we have to decide if he should activate the DVC PAP for only a week of park admission? We don't know what to do, and the uncertainty of forfeiting the $425 versus using it towards another ticket in the future is a huge unknown.

Crazy.. Im gonna call tomorrow and ill reply when I hear directly from Member Services.

When I bought several promo PAPs in December with my Disney gift cards, the cast member who worked in ticketing told me to be sure and keep the gift cards with which I purchased our tickets because if I had to get a refund, they must have the gift card number to put the funds back onto it.

He said that most likely they would grant an exception if a person was unable to activate the pass before December 31.

Just to update, they refunded the money. Super grateful but bummed we can't go... Can't wait to plan our next visit when hubs schedule is more consistent. Happy Disney was understanding and flexible!

You were very lucky, usually tickets are not refunded.

I know I am very grateful! I think since I made an address change they could see we moverd out of state and mada a rare exception. I was sure happy they did!

That's good to know that they can make exceptions like that.
