Ok...so I washed our passes...there is plenty of lint left and one magnetic strip (the other one must have run off with that other sock).

Has anyone had experience with this? I know they have a record of the passes so I'm not concerned about that...I was just wodering if I can call them and have new passes sent to me or if I just need to leave a little early next time we go and stop at guest services?

Thanks!

Ooops. I would just leave a bit early next time. It shouldn't take long to reissue them. Even when I've renewed mine it has only taken about 10 minutes.

I don't think they will mail them to you.
On your next trip take your driver's licenses to guest services outside of any park and they will reissue them there.

No, they won't send the passes to you.
But don't worry, you'll get them replaced no problem.
You will need to go to Guest Relations (not Guest Services, which is at the Resorts ;), not to be smart alec, but this often causes trouble, when people confuse these locations) outisde any of the parks or at DTD!
Just make sure (in case you're going by yourself) you bring PHOTO ID for every adult's pass you need reissued! :thumbsup2

Agreed.

We've replaced ours several times at Guest Relations just outside the gate at any theme park.

Each time, with just a driver's license, it took about 90 seconds.

I washed mine once at the All-Star Sports laundry.I took it to Guest Relations at Disney-MGM Studios and they said it would still work!It looked pretty rough so they went ahead and gave me a new one.It is very easy to get a duplicate as long as you have a photo ID. :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again...why, oh why, don't they make the APs a plastic card like the ones at DL. We were so impressed with those, they had a digital ID photo on them and everything. Granted it was B&W, but a digital photo nonetheless. Get on the ball WDW, your passholders want plastic! :teacher:

WDW resorts issue thousands of plastic cards a month that are used just for a few days. Yet for passes that are supposed to last a whole year, they make them out of cheap paper. I don't get it.

Do it like they do at Disneyland, issue a plastic card and charge for a replacement if lost/damaged.

I've already had to replaced my annual pass a few times in the past 6 months, I would have not had to do so if my card was made out of plastic.

Universal issues plastic cards, not a single problem with it. Although I've heard rumors that they are going the same way as Disney... ugh.

I completely disagree with this.

The Disney passes are fairly tough. We haven't torn ours in the few years we have had them and they have managed to go through a few of the water rides. We like the thinner passes because they fit with everything else in my wallet better.

They issue thousands of tickets a day for annual passes that will only be used that day. A lot of times people will go to WDW fully knowing they left their annual passes at home, and show up demanding a reprint. There are some annual passes that are litterally re-issed once before each use with a "lost" notation on the pass.

And other people legitimately forget them at home, wash them, ect. For this reason though, this is why they are made out of plastic-impregnated paper. The paper is quicker, and easier to use than what a plastic card would be. The plastic card printers take a couple seconds just to print the card itself. Where as the paper printers do it thermally - and print within a second of the CM pressing the key.

Plus, the plastic cards are NOT as reliable as the "paper" cards. The plastic cards demagnetize a lot easier than what the paper cards do. The plastic cards still have a higher turn-over replacement rate than what the paper cards do ( for damage and demag issues ). The plastic cards are actually A LOT more tempermental than the paper cards at the turnstiles.
