Annual Passes and Magicbands

I just bought a new annual pass. It's not yet activated but I linked it to my disney account. I have an old magic band from a previous stay at a resort. I am curious if I will be able to use my old magic band for my annual pass when I am in Disney in two weeks. Or will I have to get a RFID card and use that until I am able to customize a new annual pass magic band?

there isnt a special APH magic band, that i am aware of, if there is, you can still use either one

Any band linked to your MDEx account will read whatever else is linked there (resort stays, FP+s, park passes, etc.). Therefore, your old band will continue to work with your new pass since both are linked to your account. You will be allowed to customize a new AP band, if you wish. Both bands will then work for anything linked to your MDEx account. Many people like to order a different color for the second, and subsequent, band(s).

They still use those cards.

You won't get the card until AFTER you return home from your first WDW trip that you activated the AP.
(It will be sent to you along with your new AP MagicBand.)

In the mean time, you would need to pick up (from any Guest Relations) your flat plastic RFID AP card.
You'd then carry and use that flat plastic RFID AP card for the purpose of AP ID and discounts for the duration
of that first AP trip.

I was given one when I bought my AP on property but only one for the family at most locations it is not needed though, they just ask to see your passholder card instead of the discount card

OK....now i am totally confused or it's just to early to understand. here's my scenario: we have our tickets(4 day MYW hoppers) attached to our magic bands, which by the way we received in the mail yesterday .

My question is i would like to upgrade to an AP for just myself. Will i be able to link that to the Magic Band at guest services in the park? Will my adult DD have to upgrade too since she is linked with me?

1. You will be able to link your new AP to your MDE account.
That account will enable your new AP to be accessed by your MagicBand.

2. No. Once tickets are in-hand, each guest can upgrade her/his own ticket, individually.
