I saw this on another thread that someone said you can buy the DDP if you have an annual pass? Is that correct- I ask because we are going in May not on points as we are just closing this week for SSR and trip was planned for a year with my cousin. We are staying off property at the Caribe Royale but I am buying Annual passes when we get there- can I buy the DDP then too and where do I buy it Thanks

If you are a DVC member staying on points, then you can purchase the DDP.

Off site guests cannot purchase the DDP.

So that is even if you have an annual pass? Just because someone posted that elsewhere?

Even with an annual pass, you must be staying onsite to purchase the DDP. However, Annual Passholders CAN purchase the Disney Dining Experience card. It is valid for one year for $60, and is good for 20% off, including adult beverages, at most table service & buffet restaurants, bars/ laounges and counter service at AK and value resorts.

To add to this, you should check out DDE. DDP was a MUCH better value when tip was included. If you start doing the math for your meals and add in tip, you might find that DDE is a cheaper option than the DDP (As the 20% basically covers your tip).

Now vs the Premium DDP... it depends on how much you eat. If you ARE going to eat all that for every meal, it can be a tossup with the DDP having a slight savings advantage. But lets say you order one appertizer for the table rather than each getting his or her own, and you start to see big savings.

We are still crunching numbers to figure out if we want premium DDP or use DDE. I'm leaning DDE right now.

We would never do the Premium- too much food but it looks like for this trip off property we will buy our Annual Passes then the DDE? Thanks Gang!!:cheer2:

The new option for annual passholders to purchase the Disney Dining Plan is still only available when staying on site in a Disney resort. The difference is that now, AP holders do not need to buy a package that includes MYW tickets. They can get the DDP with a room-only reservation. (Very similar to how it has always worked for DVC members staying on points.)
