Annual Pass - Worth it or not?

I'm taking two trips to WDW next year - just me. The first is with my daughter and the second will be with my husband. It will be cheaper to just buy an Annual Pass (first trip is in January and the second is in November), but will that mess anything up since it will just be me and not my daughter or husband buying the pass, yet I'll be traveling with them? I'll be staying on Disney property, so we'll get the Dining Plan for both trips.

This is an idea that occurred to me just the other day, so I've only researched the cost/savings of the idea, but I want to know if there would be any hidden snags. And if I purchase it - it is one year from the date of purchase? Or one calendar year starting in January?

It has never messed anything up for me but I don't book packages. Right now, I'm the only one with an AP and the rest of my family has 4 day park hopper tickets for our upcoming trip.

You could lose out on free dining packages if you have an AP because most of those require everyone in the room to get a certain amount of tickets.
I've never done the dining plan but I know you can get it for just yourself when you have an AP. I usually have the Tables in Wonderland card instead which has worked well for me.
Hopefully someone else with your situation will chime in and know more about how the dining plan works in that instance.

With an AP, you will also get Memory Maker free which is nice. My AP started in September so it's not based on a calendar year but one year from the date you purchase it.

Your pass will expire one year from the date you first activate it, or the date of the first use of a ticket you upgrade. As mentioned earlier, if you want free dining, you need to book a package with at least a couple of days tickets so you could do so and give the extra ticket to the person you are traveling with, at least in the past I am not certain if that still works. If you are talking about paying for the dining plan you can just do that. You may also be able to get a slightly better room rate. We had bought tickets for Memorial Day weekend knowing we are going again in October so we upgraded to AP's the first day. So now my pass expires on 5/29/17. I had purchased the original tickets from Parksavers with the buy 4 get 3 special so ended up saving even more than just buying the AP up front.

Annual Passes are good from the first day you use it. We just activated a couple and the clock starts ticking from when you first activate it a t a park.
