Annual Pass-When to Buy?

Any word on how much of an increase is planned? pirate:
I mean, if it's going up by 5%, you're saving maybe $20 per adult pass. Now 5% is lower than my mortgage but higher than my Home Equity line, and we are going in November, so prorate that by 234/365ths worth of interest, and you're still ahead, but by not even $10 per pass (or $37.75 for the 4 of us). Plus I guess we'll get the $15 rewards dollars six months earlier too.

So for me, I would rather hold on to my cash for another 7+ months, than save possibly $40 and risk misplacing our AP vouchers in the interim.::yes::

Wow Pumkinboy you have it all figured out! LOL! I never rush out to buy any just because they might go up a few bucks. I figure we are already putting out major bucks for APS so another $20 isn't a big deal here. Just wanted to say I'm impressed that you went through all that just figure out if it was to your benefit. Just reading it gave me a headache! LOL!

I just spoke to a CM at our Disney Store in Orland Park and they said yes, indeed they are going up as of Sunday. When I asked how much they said $10.

Sorry I made your head hurt:( . I am a Finance Wonk by training and at work, so this is just how my brain is programmed. Also, we have recently undergona a construction project at home and so I am acutely aware of the risks of misplacing things:eek: . I just had to put a dollar value on the possible savings, bcs being from Maine (and with some Scottish ancestry), I am also on the cheap side (maybe that should read frugal...). Glad I was able to lend some perspective.

Our next trip is planned for 11/27-12/4 (value resort), is there AP rates out now for this time of year. Didn't plan on purchasing one until the summer. We want to go the Moderate route and if I can get AP rates now that would be great.

Also is I understand correctly not everyone in our party need one. Can the AP be a child's. This was not a planned trip, if it was would have bought AP's for last year's(03) trip. Don't know if we will be going again next year....... Hopefully.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

When we used our AP to get the AP rate, it had to be the adult whose name was on the reservation who had the AP. A child cannot make a reservation so if you are only going to get one AP it needs to be an adult one. We had the voucher and had to check back with the desk within 24 hrs. with the activated AP. We bought our APs last fall when the Disney Visa had double points for Disney Store purchases. I was able to purchase at our local Disney Store but things have changed in the last few months so I don't know if they still sell them.

APs going up by $10, or parkhoppers going up y $10, or every ticket going up by $10? Also, if you buy PH tickets in advance online thru WDW & then your trip gets cancelled (heaven forbid!) are you just stuck with tickets you may not be able to use for awhile? Please advise ASAP! :wave2:

Unused tickets never expire, but they are not refundable. So yes I guess you could say you are stuck with them until you can plan another trip.

I bought 2 adult AP's at my Disney Store in December and I was given 2 purple cards (they look like the hoppers they sell at the DS but say "Annual Pass"). I was able to use my Disney Club discount on them before the Disney Club went out of 'business.' We ended up paying $377 per pass. We're not planning on using them until July 05, so by my book, I'm thinking we saved at least $50 per pass. That's savings if you ask me.

OK, now that's worth the money. A mere $10-$20 savings is not going coax me into spending $1,500, when I am not planning ot use (or activate) them until November. So I guess that's a liquidity premium.

Well done, Scanne!
