Annual Pass Room Discounts

I've been reading quite a bit recently about room discounts you can get with an annual pass. This has made me think about getting one to achieve a better overall price.

1. Do you get a room discount all year round or are there black out dates?

2. How can you find out the room discounts and do they apply to all WDW hotels?

3. I'm guessing it's booked through the US so could you claim free DDP when it (hopefullly) comes out next year?

4. How does it compare to AAA discounts?

Sorry about the questions but it's one of those things you know about so easily if you have an AP. And if you don't -

1. Do you get a room discount all year round or are there black out dates? No, AP discounts are not always available. AP discounts are an unknown. Disney releases them when they have excess capacity (not enough people to fill the rooms). So you never know if there will be an AP discount, when it will be or how much it will be. Or what resort either.

2. How can you find out the room discounts and do they apply to all WDW hotels? When you make a reservation, you ask if there are any AP discounts available for the time you're staying at WDW.

3. I'm guessing it's booked through the US so could you claim free DDP when it (hopefullly) comes out next year? You can't have free dining together with an AP room discount. It's one or the other, not both.

4. How does it compare to AAA discounts? i don't know. I think the AAA discounts are actually all year round, whereas the AP room discounts aren't.

AP Discounts do tend to be seasonal and depend on demand and there are black out dates. Rates are on a daily basis so AP discounts may vary between weekdays and weekends.

I expect you used to always read your exam paper thouroughly before answering the questions

But thank you, that has answered all my questions, I appreciate that.

The next questions is how good are the AAA discounts. I don't think annual passes would suit me as I am quite strict on the dates I can go so maybe AAA might work out better!

you can always book rate rate with a US travel agent to lock in the dates you want and if a AP rate or AAA comes out they will add it on
I have done this a few times and saved lots
all you need it the depoist for 1 night the balance to be paid on arrivel
I'll used dreams unlimited from theses boards lots of times

Booked a room at POFQ a few days ago. The UK disney website prices were much cheaper that the US prices even with AAA discount. This was for July 09.

AAA discounts (and other available discounts are all covered on the Mousesavers site that I gave you the link for above

I priced a stay for this nov/dec using a recent AP rate it came to about $1100 for 13 nights, then a general fall/holiday discount code came put- it was on Disneyworld.com website, this came to $870 for same dates and included 2 one day park passes, which I wont use and will keep to get a discount off my next AP next year.

So it pays to look around!

You can book with the AAA discount and when AP rates are released you can switch codes if it is cheaper, Disney USA is very flexible with changes to bookings and you can switch to a cheaper rate if one comes out. Dreamsunlimited as mentioned will check the best rate for you.
