I am going for 10 days in Nov. and was originally going to buy a 10 day hopper pass plus dining. After reading about the annual passes, I am kinda leaning towards gettting this instead because of all the discounts and seeing I will most likely be going in Nov. 06. Before I do get them I wanted to know how much the discount on resort rooms usually is and if I can still get the dining plan with it. Thanks! ;)

AP discountys are changing. If you want to book an AP rate, you need to have the AP in hand. Then you will pay a non refundable deposit for one night at the going rate. If the rate drops, and is offered to the public, between the time you reserve, your rate will also go down. This is a new policy at WDW and it looks like they are getting away from AP Rates. FWIT, ap rated for September 3rd - 6th at Pop are 59 dollars, 30 less than standard. APs generally break even at the 11 day mark, after that it's like getting in for free. You will have to ask the CM in reservations about the dining. Between now and next Nivember a lot of things can and will change, too.

What the above poster stated is true in reagards to the new Best Rate program for AP'ers, but I have been told that you can still book the "old fashioned way via phone. That's how I do it anyway, I like to know what's available and usually book closer than 120 days. Historically, the AP discount has ran ~$100 off rack for Deluxes, ~$50 off Moderates and ~$25 off Values. I booked two weeks ago for our trip on Thursday and was quoted $99 a night for Port Orleans French Quarter, a moderate with a rack rate of $149 a night. Usually, we stay deluxe and have received $100 off rack each time. Hope this is helpful to you. The way it's been in the past is the discount is for room only, no dining packages could be added on.

I just bought an AP the other day, and was able to book with the "Best Rate" for a room at WL in December just using my voucher number. (I called and got the number the next business day after ordering my AP online.) I got a $70 discount per night on the room.

There is some risk with the Best Rate plan because you need to pay a $50 fee to change anything on your reservation (I think they waive this if you are upgrading or adding more days) and you have to pay a non-refundable one-night deposit.

You can't get the dining plan with AP discounts because the dining plan is available only with packages and AP discounts are room-only. But who knows what the future holds?
