Annual Pass Renewal - Can it be canceled/refunded?

My husband and I took advantage of renewing our DVC annual passes (expired in April) and have not yet been to a park since it's renewal. We have the ticket order linked to MDE so we could do our future fastpass reservations, but that's it. Unfortunately, we are canceling our trip next week due to a serious health issue in the family. Our next trip is not planned until October (if that remains in place and uncanceled) so the benefit of the DVC annual pass renewal price is no longer cost effective. Does anyone know if we can cancel and/or be refunded the money we paid for the passes at this point? Who would I even call to inquire about this? Many thanks in advance.

Officially, all ticket/pass purchases are non-refundable. Call MS and ask, they might refund it (or might not).

I will try calling MS, thank you.

If unsuccessful in obtaining a refund and assuming our October trip still occurs.....do you think offering to pay the extra amount in October to make the pass a new one (non-renewal) would work? In that respect I am not asking for a refund. I would be offering to pay full face value for a pass with a new start date of when it is first used. Anyone know and/or do this ever?

In this particular case, it might actually be advantageous for you to NOT use your renewal voucher in October, and wait until after a year has passed from your renewal date. If you wait more than 1 year, the renewal voucher then becomes like money towards a new one at that time (because the renewal was never activated). You will have to pay whatever extra to bridge the price between whatever a new one costs at that time and whatever you paid for the renewal, but at least you will still get the full value of your renewal money that way. I would call to verify that this is what will happen at the regular Disney number (think it's still 407-W-DISNEY).

I know this is an older post, but found it searching for an answer. My daughter and family find themselves in this exact situation and don't know what to do. Their ap expired in march 2017 and they bought the renewals because they planned to go shortly aftwards, plus it was for 13 months. It's now June and they still haven't activated their renewal vouchers. They are working through some medical issues with her husbands mom, which will not be resolved for awhile. I think she should call to see if she can get the renewal vouchers switched to new ap vouchers and pay the difference. I just don't want to encourage her to call if it's going to be a waste of time and frustrate her more. She and granddaughter are going to go in July with us for 3 days so she would either activate her renewal, or try to change it to a new AP, but her husband doesn't know when he will be able to activate his. Any suggestions would be welcome. Life doesn't always go as planned.

No idea sorry, but good luck. Hope it all works out well for the family.

Do we know if this policy is still in effect. Thank you
