I currently have a 10 day MYW with PH booked for my surprise trip in december with my husband but we are looking at also going back to disney for 10 days next October and realized that AP's would be the best deal for us. I know that I can upgrade to an annual pass when I get to disney but I have a few questions

1) Will my annual pass be put on my existing Magic band?
2) will I have access to the discounts and tables in wonderland card immediately?
3) will I lose all my fast pass + reservations that will be currently booked on my 10 day ticket? :crazy2:

thanks everyone! these answers are not easy to find...

1) Yes, you can link it to your existing Magic band, though you'll get an actual AP card as well
2) If you're at the parks as soon as you have your AP you can use for discounts, or you can go purchase a TIW
3) You shouldn't, those are tied to your magic band and MDE and you should be able to link it without losing those.

I don't know, I thought they send you a new MB with your AP coded it to and with your name imprinted on it. My friend had bought a MB and then later upgraded to AP, and they sent her the new one FOR her AP, with her name (which you order), and then she got a CM under a bit of duress to relink the old MB for her grandson.

As soon as you get your card, even if you don't have your MB or discount card (came separately) you are as good as gold for anything you would want to use it for. I hope you do get it! Because it makes it possible for quick getaways, or one more evening in the park if you want, just a much more relaxed experience. Time is no longer your enemy.

Nothing is on your magicband, nothing is coded to it. Everything is on your MDE account. ALL magicbands you have are linked to your MDE account and you may use them interchanging. Any existing magicbands will work with your AP. All they do is access the info on MDE. I probably have 15 magicbands (all colors and some special edition ones) and they all work. I bring several each trip and change them out. The one you get with your AP is a "gift" that will also include a dated slider and your AP discount card. You usually get to order this AFTER you activate your AP, so that would be when OP gets home. All magicbands for APs and Resort Reservations, if customized, will have your name printed on it.

When you upgrade you will get a hard AP card, use that and an ID for all AP discounts. If you wish to get TiW you may purchase it at the time you are getting your AP or anytime later. I've gotten my TiW six months after getting AP because I didn't need it at first (DDP) and didn't want it wasted.

For what it's worth to add on to PP post, you can get whatever you want imprinted on your MB. We all got a slogan on ours this last trip. No reason other than its fun

Interesting observation, others may already know, the FP machines can tell them more than your name. It also included our celebration. I had told them it was a birthday celebration fro DH and I. When I saw our names on the FP screens after we scanned it said Birthday Celebration under our names.

You will go to guest services to upgrade, they will do something with your magic band to make sure your AP info. is now on it. It should show up on your MDE then. They will give you an AP card which you will use to get discounts and/or buy your TIW card. If you get more MBs in the future, they will automatically hook up on MDE and everything will be on it.

They wouldn't be able to sell higher priced fancy limited bands if they didn't let you bring your own magic band to an AP. Disney isn't going to miss any possible sale for anyone, especially those who are paying to come often. You will get a MB every year for the AP though. not sure if those are opt-outable like the other tickets are.

1) Will my annual pass be put on my existing Magic band?

The AP will be put on your MyDisneyExperience account. Any MB you have that is linked to your MDE account will then be able to grab the admission info. Nothing is "on" the MB; the MB interacts with the computer system to get the info in MDE.

Yes, your current, linked-to-your-MDE-and-not-deactivated-by-you MBs will be able to access the AP.

2) will I have access to the discounts and tables in wonderland card immediately?

Discounts given for the AP, yes, when you have your AP card (that you need to show, with ID, to get the discounts). TIW is a separate purchase and a separate card to carry and show.

3) will I lose all my fast pass + reservations that will be currently booked on my 10 day ticket? :crazy2:

The system isn't designed to make you lose the FP+ arrangements. Glitches happen sometimes, but it's not supposed to happen.

then she got a CM under a bit of duress to relink the old MB for her grandson.

Right. Because MBs are supposed to be for the original person. The duress was because the CM shouldn't be asked to assign one person's MB to another person.

The AP band doesn't take over; you can still use the other MBs. They all connect to the account. Some CMs says that having too many messes things up, but I have 8 MBs and have had no problems. If there's a problem I figure it's a glitch.
