I posted earlier in the month, uncertain about what to do about re-newing our annual passes :sunny: .

Can anyone tell me whether, if I re-new the two Power Passes, it's possible to upgrade them, if necessary, when we get there?
Basically, we will be in Orlando until the 12th April and I know the power passes have blackout dates from 10th. My preferred pass expires on the 10th and I'm not certain whether we'll go to the parks on the 11th or 12th so am loathe to re-new (or upgrade the others at the moment) - just in case :confused3 I can re-new and upgrade now at a cost of $129 + tax but that's at least $70 more than to just re-new.
If I thought we might be going back, within the year, I wouldn't even be asking - I'd just 'do' - but I think we'll be snowed under with further neuro surgery for DH
I know there isn't a great saving in re-newing the power passes but was thinking about it if we could upgrade if necessary :earsgirl:
Anyone?

It is my impression that they are always happy to take more $$ to upgrade your tickets--as long as you don't allow them to expire.

Yes, but I would wait. See why in my next sentence.

If you upgrade at the time of renewal it is only $30 more plus tax rather than $60 if you upgrade at a later time.

Actually that is only $30 more as the renewal alone is $99. What's nice about upgrading is then next year when you renew the Preferred annual pass, it is only $99 to renew which is the same price as to renew a Power Pass so you get more bang for your bucks. I always recommend upgrading a Power Pass at renewal time. You can renew anytime within the 30 day window of expiration---30 days before or 30 days after. Your expiration date will remain the same though.

Thanks for that Phamton.
The $70 was for both passes :sunny:
If I wait until we know for definite about DH's need for surgery I will have missed the 30 day re-newal date (which I think is today :guilty: )
In any other circumstances I would just go ahead and re-new / upgrade / whatever now but this was meant to be our last 'big' holiday so, sadly, the need to upgrade again next year is virtually nil.
As Universal have said that they will refund the pass if we're unable to travel maybe I should just 'bite the bullet' and go ahead :teeth:
What wouldn't I give to not be in charge of the decisions........ :rotfl:

Well, I have re-newed the 2 power passes and decided to 'hold fire' on upgrading or re-newing my own pass :sunny: .
As I see it we may well not visit Universal on the 11th or 12th of April so, to re-new and upgrade now, would cost a bundle for, perhaps, nothing :confused3
If we do decide that we were crazy, and can't live without the final 2 days of our holiday being spent in the Universal parks, we'll charge the cost to my bd fund (12th April ;) )
Thank you for all your help.
