annual pass question

We're going to purchase AP's for our trip in 20 days. Question:

I know we need an activated pass before check-in (we got an AP rate at the Poly). We've about decided to just go over to the MK and purchase them before we check in to the Poly. Or, can we purchase a voucher at the Disney Store and save any $$$ doing it that way? I know we'll still have to activate them but what I'm thinking about here is $$ savings.

Also, can one of us get an annual pass and the other just get park hoppers? I'm not sure I like this option but I want to explore it.

I believe you will only need one AP. (It can even be a children's too) for check in and get the AP rate. There is no difference in the cost of an AP at the DS or at MK.

The price of a park hopper is less if you buy it before going.

You do not need to have an activated pass to check in, a voucher will do. There is no advance purchase discount on APs. You can do this online and do will call and that will save shipping.
Yes, only one needs the annual pass. You will save money by purchasing your Park Hoppers ahead of time.
