Hi everyone! I wanted to know if there are discounts for Annual Passes?

Such as...AAA?

Or teacher's or union discount?

Any and all info is very much appreciated!

See the Sticky thread at the top called:

Basically though you should by a discounted MYW ticket, use it one day and then upgrade to an AP. You will get to keep the savings you got when buying the discounted MYW ticket by using the ticket first before upgradeing.

Otherwise I don't think there are any discounts for AP except FL resident and maybe AAA.

SOG sells discounted APs to those qualified.

These are the only ones I know of:

DVC Member (I believe you get $100 off)
Florida Resident ($359 vs. $469 non resident, save $110)
Military Member (save $9 plus don't pay tax)

These are based on the regular annual pass not the premium annual pass. I pulled the FL discount off of WDW website There may be more but those are the only ones I know of. I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will correct me.

Those are the only ones I know of as well. The discounted MYW base ticket upgraded to AP is the trickiest one and the only one you don't have to have a prior affiliation (DVC, military, Fl Resident) to get.

Also, of course, if you're "renewing" your annual pass there might be a slight discount.

My AAA agent told me they (AAA) don't have AP discounts

CM use to get a small discount for friends and family too. I think it was 5% off. The best discount is DVC.

There are different AAA companies across the country.

The one called "AAA South" DOES offer AP's (both Florida Resident and NON-Florida Resident) at a discount.

"AAA South" offices can be found only in Florida, Georgia, Middle & West Tennessee, and Puerto Rico.

Ah - I didn't realize they all operated differently, thanks Robo.

To clarify - AAA Northern New England doesn't get discounted APs. ;)

Can someone please explain the MYW and then upgrading? I really don't understand

There is a way to buy AP's from Disney at a discount.

Its easy, but requires a few "steps" to accomplish.

Here's the deal:

First, find the absolute best deal you can on a multi-day MYW ticket from a reputable WDW ticket discounter:
-----------------------------------------------------
Here are some popular, reliable links for info and/or tickets:

http://www.mousesavers.com

http://www.undercovertourist.com

http://www.ticketmania.com

http://www.mapleleaftickets.com

And, AAA travel offices can often be a good source.
-----------------------------------------------------

Buy your MYW ticket from the discounter.
(Likely the best deal will be on a ticket with a larger number of days on it.)

When you get to WDW, USE your discounted ticket to go into a THEME PARK at least one day.

THEN, go to any Guest Relations or Ticket Window at the park, TTC, or DTD.

Upgrade to an AP.

Since you have USED a day of your discounted ticket, you will receive the CURRENT GATE PRICE when you trade in your discounted ticket.

So...

You will get to "keep the discount" you got on the MYW ticket, but you will then be buying an AP as if you had paid full current gate price for the MYW you are trading-in.

Slick and legal.

I'm still confused....if anyone can do it with numbers, it would be most helpful!

I will use the figure of $25 in this example.

The amount you save could be more or less, depending on how much savings you can
find on a multiple-day MYW ticket from a ticket discounter.

------------------------

If you can find a savings of $25 on a 10 Day MYW ticket from a discounter, buy it.

Then, use that ticket to actually enter one of the theme parks at WDW.

Then, upgrade that 10 Day ticket to an AP.

You will receive the FULL VALUE of a new 10 Day MYW ticket in trade-up for the AP.

You will have then (in effect) saved $25 off of the AP price...
because you paid $25 less for the 10 Day MYW that you first purchased.

We are allowed to use a day and then get reimbursed for the entire thing?

Absolutely.

Positively.

Yes.

You can even wait until a ticket is completely "used up" (no more days left) and you will still get the full value of a new, unused ticket at the gate when you trade-up.

The only rule is that you must do the upgrade within 14 days from when the ticket was first used.

More Info:

HERE is the current WDW price list (you must ADD Sales Tax to these numbers.)

If you were to buy a 10-day Hopper for $237, and use all 10 of the days, THEN decide to upgrade to a $469 AP, you would get $237 in trade to subtract from the cost of the $469 AP.

You would only be charged $469 minus $237,
so the AP upgrade would cost you just $232 (plus Sales Tax.)

DVC members get $125 off the Premium Annual Pass.

They also get discounts on Disneyland APs.

Robo:

Would this trick work for a DVCer getting the $100/$125 AP discount?

And I assume the AP start date backdates to the day you started using the 10-day Hopper?

Thanks.

I'm not sure how the DVC tickets work, but if you can just "upgrade" from a MYW ticket to a DVC AP, it will work the same way.

I assume the AP start date backdates to the day you started using the 10-day Hopper?

Yes. That's why they can give you full value for the used ticket.

I need to renew my AP in another month or two, so I'm starting to try to figure out where that money will come from. Do you know if it's possible to do this on an AP renewal?

I know that it's possible to use an existing ticket as credit toward an AP renewal, but what I'm not sure about is whether you can upgrade a partially used ticket for an AP renewal. (Just to be perfectly clear, by partially used I mean a discount ticket that was used once to enter a park just before the upgrade). Cheshire, Robo, do either of you know?

Thanks much:)
