Annual Pass Question

If we buy annual passes for DLP, do we get any reduction in the resort hotel rate as we do not need the passes element of the package, or is the 10% discount on the hotel the only perk?
Also, does the 10% discount apply to the Castle Club?

Hi

I think the Dream pass gives 10% on all hotels (and 30% at times), all dates, and you can book without the passes.

I have the Fantasy pass and it offers the 10% for selected dates. I booked for November, but didnt get the discount (although got a quote a few days before with the discount?!), and had to call a few times to get a room only rate, as they said I had to get passes too.

Think it depends on who you talk to.

We got a room only reservation with no problem with our dream passes.

Do you already have annual passes? If not you will find it difficult to get room only until you have an AP. You are probably better staying off site which means you wont be paying for tickets you dont need.
If you already have an AP it should be reasonably straight forward although people have had problems from time to time

So you're saying that it's quite difficult to get a 'room only' reservation?

It's usually not at all difficult to get the reservation. Only thing is that it can be hard to do the planning, as you just have no chance to find any room only prices without calling the hotline There's no list, or catalog, or online thing, or whatever else (like you will find it on packages). But calling them will allow you to even inquire for "loose" planning like "we'll be going somewhen around halloween, what might be the discount offers?" and they'll tell you.

We booked a room only rate at the Santa Fe and had no trouble, this was before we brought our annual passes (did this the day we got there). The CM told me we were fine to book RO although we would need to show AP's on check-in. When we got there we tried our luck and checked in no problem without AP's and then went over to the park and brought them. I think it depends which CM you get as some of them have very little knowledge about RO and AP's.

Thanks - that is helpful. Is there no system like the WDW annual pass exchange voucher that can be bought before you travel but do not actually activate until you visit?
