Annual Pass purchase

Hi all, can anyone share if there are any clear cut advantages to purchasing an annual pass in advance of our first trip/activation? It seems to me there is not; in which case perhaps buying tickets to credit towards AP purchase when we arrive is best?

Also, a nit-picky question: Why does Disney wait until after you activate the AP to get magic bands ordered and shipped to your home?? That seems really odd if you wanted to be able to utilize those on your first trip. Out-of-stater : )

I'll assume you are not a Florida resident.

1. The common number to reap benefits of an AP in a 12 month period is > 10 days. Do you have a long trip planned or are you attending multiple times? If not it almost certainly WILL NOT save you money.

2. Yes that can be a huge pain but if you stay onsite(and if you stay offsite you are losing one of the biggest AP discounts) you will have the option to order another set of magic bands, free of charge, that will arrive pre-trip.
