Annual pass purchase

If you buy at Guest Services at the parks, you'll need some form of ID with your address on it (that matches the DVC info) and your blue member ID. Takes about 10 minutes to get the AP or PAP.

Crap, our addresses on our DL are still at our old address. Do you know of any other forms of address verification they will accept? Such as power bill, etc.?

TIA!

Was surprised it was just the flimsy paper ticket. Worries me we'll keep it safe.....

Wow, we are thinking about getting AP's before our next trip in April '08, I'm surprised they sound like they are NOT a credit type plastic card, I have never seen one. Is that true?:3dglasses

They are made if Tyvek, sort of a very sturdy plasticized paper. I've only had one erased once, and it was easily replaced at Guest Services. I think the reasons they don't use the card type for annual passes, is that card will be too think to fit well into the pass benefit booklet/protector, also they are probably cheaper to replace when someone loses/forgets their pass.

You'll need a photo ID with address for every adult to either buy a pass OR redeem the vouchers at guest services, along with your DVC Membership card.

Is it up to us to renew or do they contact you with the amount and reminders? I saw an incentive on the basic renewal page for renewals but did not know if that applied for DVCers or not. Thanks!!

Annual passes used to be picture ids. Disneyland still uses that type although they are a little different than the old WDW picture APs I think.

I do wonder why the difference between the Land and the World?

Sometimes they do mail reminders and sometimes they don't.:confused3 So it is really up to you since you just never know!

It is slightly cheaper to renew but you need to figure out if it will actually save you money. If you renew, your anniversary date doesn't change.

can I buy extra ? like when you buy those regular hopper tickets etc...

They should send a renewal reminder. If not, you can renew up to one month after your expiration date...but it will be backdated to the orignal date.

Do you usually get reminders, Chuck? We sure don't. Maybe once every three or four years it seems to me.

I am about to purchase my APs at the DVC website. I just wanted to confirm that the start date will be the day we pick them up at will-call? We aren't going on our trip for about 30 days, so obviously don't want the start date to begin until then. Also, where do you pick the tickets up? Thanks in advance.

You can pick up APs at any guest service window at the parks or DTD. And yes, the clock will not start on the APs until you pick them up. That date will be known as your anniversary date.

I just called MS and bought the 3 AP's that we needed and I asked them to mail the voucher to me so I can pre purchase the DDE card. I arrive home yesterday and hear the will call message from MS on my answering machine..:sad2: . That being said how big of a pain is it to get the DDE card at the guest relations office close to BCV at Epcot? Do they need time to make it? I was going to use it for lunch and dinner on the tuesday we arrive.
Thanks for your help.
Chris

Chris

We got APs and a DDE card for our Nov 06 trip. It was very easy to go to the Guest Relations at the International Gateway to pick up the APs ........ but I hadn't considered that picking them up at 8:30 PM meant they were activated on that date. That might not be a problem most of the time, but I knew we had already had a cruise booked for 07 and would probably come up to Disney afterwards and every day on the AP was precious.

The DDE card could NOT be picked up at the International Gateway Guest Services. I believe that when I ordered the card over the phone I was told that the only place it could be picked up was the Guest Services outside the front of Epcot. I set it up with the DDE staff to have a temporary card waiting for me at Guest Services, in case the permanent one did not reach me in time. This card DOES get activated when you purchase it, not when you first use it, so I didn't want to order it far in advance.

I had to go to the Guest Services that is outside and to the right of the main entrance to Epcot. And it WAS a pain to get from the Boardwalk area to the front of Epcot to get the DDE card. I still didn't want to activiate the AP, or I could have walked through Epcot, so I decided to take the boat to MGM and then catch a bus to Epcot. Once in the Guest Relations line, it was a couple of minutes ........ but only because there was a CM walking up and down the line to inquire what each person needed. When he found out I was picking up the DDE card, he went in back and brought it out for me.

PS ... we're going back for a few days this fall and am very glad that we didn't activate the APs before we did ..... otherwise it would be costing us $$$$

If I am reading your post correctly, you have a big problem. The way I read it, you ordered APs from MS and asked to have them sent but you got a call from MS on your answering machine that they are being held as will call. Is that right?

Your big problem will come with getting the DDE card. It must be ordered and paid for ahead of time. You cannot order and pay for it at the Epcot GR window. But to be able to order the card, you have to have your AP or your voucher number to give to the DDE office on the phone. Without it, they cannot take the order.

All of which means you will not have the DDE card at least for lunch for the day you arrive. You would have to pick up your AP's, then call the DDE office and order the card. Once you do that, they can have a temporary card waiting after 5:30 pm that day at Epcot GR. If your dinner ressie is for after that time, then you will have the DDE card for dinner.

IIWY, I'd call MS back and tell them that will call is not acceptable nor waht you asked for. You asked to have it sent (did they charge you the $3 shipping) as you have to have it to order a DDE card.

Good luck.

FYI: I just called MS and they would have and will confrence call the DDE department to confirm the AP purchase. Since trip isn't till mid Sept. I will call back in a couple weeks. I can't pick up both things at the same place?

I received my AP's in the mail today!:yay:

I'm don't think that you can exchange the exchange certicificates for the actual annual pass at DTD anymore. My bright green exchange certificates state that they can be redeemed at the ticket sales locations at Epcot, Disney-MGM, Animal Kingdom, and the T&TC only. No mention of DTD.

If you noticed, the exchange vouchers don't mention the MK either, only the TTC. ;) And they don't mention the water parks, too. Rest assured that the vouchers most definitely can be exchanged at any Guest Relations location including the theme parks, water parks, and DTD, as well as at any theme park ticket booth (such as the TTC).

Okay, thanks. I hope you're right. I'm going in August was planning on going directly to the MK to do the exchange after we check-in at OKW.

Oh, you absolutely can bet on GoldenOldie being right. She's the DIS expert on tickets.:worship:

BTW, MK is where we usually buy our APs or exchange vouchers. Did it in Oct and Jan....for different familiy members obviously.

Will I be able to pick up will call AP's, (maybe will call or voucher)DDE card & 7 day hopper at the IG? We are staying at BCV, where do I need to go? Rookie Here.
Thank you
Chris
