Annual Pass Parking - Magic Bands????

Heading down this week. Can you get the annual pass parking with the magic band or will I need to carry my actual pass with me? I know last time it was really inconsistent but wasn't sure if they've straightened it out yet.

We were able to scan our bands when we were there two weeks ago.

They always just scan my band. If they scan anything. Lol

You should carry your pass with you anyway. Showing your annual pass card and ID is the only way to take advantage of discounts for pass holders. Don't miss out on the perks!

I also recommend always carrying your AP card. I always have my AP card and ID ready to show. They can scan the band though

I always show my AP Card and Photo ID when parking. Sometimes it takes a while for the system to return the information to the handheld scanner, so it's quicker to show the cards.

I was told by a CM if you have the Disney App on your phone it is the same as carrying your pass. You can just pull it out and show them.

For annual pass free parking at the parks you show the card at the booth. To get into any resort gated parking (if not a guest) you need to show ID at the gate. Band only works for resort guests. Never heard you could show the app because you can be logged in as anyone.

Actually, the CM at the parking booth will have an handheld scanner that can determine if someone is eligible for free parking (resort guests/passholders). They may ask for a photo id or the name associated with the pass.

Over Spring Break all the did was look at the MB -- never bothered to scan it. For park discounts they said -- EVERY TIME -- "I need to see your AP card AND photo ID," so I'm not sure you could get away with the app. It's not really worth the hassle, just bring it.

We were told by a CM in one of the Poly gift shops that they could extend the merchandise discount if we showed in the app that we were DVC and/or had an AP.

We were there this past week and drove in every day, sometimes to more than one park. Most of the time my husband just showed the AP card and was waved through. Only twice was he asked to show ID with it, and only one CM scanned his magicband, and that was after he had seen the AP card. Our experience with the AP merchandise discount was the same as Momto3PrincessesinNJ - every single time without exception I had to show both the AP card and my ID.

Better to be safe than sorry....Always carry you AP card to be sure of getting your free parking and discounts. Not every place has the ability to scan and see what you are entitled to.

We activated our APs in March at Disney Springs & were given actual card APs, no discount cards. Ordered AP Magic bands when we got home. We are going back Monday - I always have my AP with me in case MB doesn't work & they need proof. We were told always to carry the APs.

Seems like it depends where yo activated. We activated ours at MK since we were staying at the Polynesian. I remembered years ago when we had the old paper type AP cards and expected something. When I asked the girl at the desk said nope, just use your band.
