Annual Pass newbie questions

DH & I decided to purchase Annual passes before the prices increase. I ordered through the Disney website and received a confirmation number to bring to "will call". Here are my questions - some I believe I know the answers already, but want some affirmation I guess. Lol

1. Our first trip using the passes is August. Am I correct to assume the 365 days starts at this point? (August)

2. Since the passes aren't "in effect" yet, I cant use the confirmation number to make room reservations at the discounted rates, can I?

3. Since I paid for the passes on my credit card, I won't be charged any additional fees/increases in August?

4. anything else I need to know about the wonderful old of annual passes?

To clarify #4 -

If you don't have an onsite resort reservation, you can have up to 7 days of FP+ scheduled within the next 30 days.

If you do have an onsite resort reservation, when you're 60 days from check-in date you can schedule FP+ for the length of your onsite resort stay.

I was so told that if you have a resort reservation you could make FPs for each day of the reservation, even if it is well more than 7. The 7 days is if you are local or staying offsite.

As mesaboy said, you can book rooms with the discount prior to arriving and activating the passes. I haven't done that, so I'll leave it to others to explain details, but I know it can be done and is done frequently.

For AP do we need a exchange certificate or only id, confirmation number?
How does the magic band process work?
Do you get new band only or card also? Does it function like normal magic band as hotel room key/park entry/charging privileges. As soon as you activate it does it automatically have all your MDE info on it (FP, dining etc?)
Do we get new magic band each trip or only one set for the year?
anything else we need to know as first time AP holders?

You will receive vouchers in the mail which you need to bring to the ticket window or guest relations to activate. You get an AP card when you turn in the voucher which also works as your park ticket and resort room key.

Once you activate the AP and enter a park, the option to customize your AP MagicBands will appear in your MDE account. They will ship them after you customize them. The MB functions just like all your other MB's. It will open your resort room, have your tickets, etc.

You will get a new MB each time you make a new resort reservation and each time you renew your AP.

You will get a merchandise card to show to vendors so that you can get the 10% discount on qualified purchases. The AP also entitles you to resort discounts, which we have used a few times now.

The AP is addictive and you may find yourself going to WDW more often as a result of buying one.

we had the option to order MB so we have already customized them, will we be able to activate them and use them when we make our first trip?
