Annual Pass Needed at WDW Check-In?

Has anyone managed to check into a WDW resort (specifically, Caribbean Beach) with a voucher for an annual pass, and not the pass itself?

We made reservations a few days ago for the first week in February, and bought our first annual pass to get the reduced room rates. Disney is sending us a voucher which we'll redeem at one of the parks for the annual pass. But I'd rather not have to drop off the bags at the hotel, then take a bus to a theme park for the pass, and then return to the hotel for check-in.

The official Disney policy is that we've got to have the pass itself when we check in, but I've read that the policy isn't always enforced and that sometimes a voucher is enough (we'd return later that night and show Guest Relations our pass).

Anyone have experience / insight?

Thanks!

Twice I have checked on having only the vouchers, but they did not ask to see them....I wanted to show them, though!

I always buy annuals and have yet to be asked to produce it upon check-in despite the fact I usually have made a reservation for hotel using an AP code. Go figure...

I've always been asked to show my AP or voucher. Either one will work. :)

On the initial visit, when we were purchasing our AP. I made res with AP rate, didn't have anything at check in. I was going to purchase the AP at the MK gate. We were never asked for anything, good thing, we didn't have anything. When we returned 11 months later again, we had AP at that point but were not asked to see them.

I was prepared to tell them I would produce at AP pass when I returned from a day at MK.

First time it was at the WL then 11 month later at the Poly.

We have booked rooms several times using AP rates and have never been asked for our passes at check-in.

We have checked in twice at the Polynesian, and once at PO-FQ, and were never asked to see our AP... But you never know!!

I was not asked in September but I have 2 relatives that were asked to show their AP's at two separate times. I guess it depends on the CM.

So far I have never been asked to show any validation for a room discount (AP or DC). Although all were legit and I could have provided proof.

We leave a week from today for the Poly. We have regular Hopper Passes and will upgrade one for AP because I got an AP discount. I emailed the concierge desk at the Poly and specifically asked about this. They emailed me back and said we can check in with the kids and my husband can go exchange the pass. At least you have a voucher! At this point we have only the cheapest Hopper Passes!

We stayed at WL in December with an AP rate. I had paid for the AP's, but didn't have them mail me the vouchers, so I had nothing to show when we checked in. They didn't ask for proof, in fact the cm asked us if we wanted to go ahead and buy our park hoppers while we were checking in! I don't think half the cm's even know what the discount codes mean!

peachgirl -- Now that you mention it, I recall the same has happened to us. The CM at check in has often asked if we needed to buy them.

3 questions:)

You get your voucher from your local DS & then can you redeem your real AP from DTD or is it only a Diseny Park?

Should you wait to buy your other PH's from your hotel when you gave your AP?

Can they put your PH's on your room card?

When you buy PH from your local DS what are they, paper, plastic, other?

Thanks all!
