annual pass merchandise discounts

Not sure if this is the correct area, if it's not, could someone please direct me where to post this?

My question is about the 20% discount pass holders receive on "select regularly priced merchandise" in some locations. How limiting is this rule? Is most of the merchandise included in this "select" group, or is it pretty limited. Is there anyway to know once you are inside the store?

Also, what about candy and treats inside these locations, does the discount apply to this stuff?

The discount applies to most things, but some are excluded. For example, there is no discount on the banshee in Pandora. Also, the store in Japan doesn't accept the discount. You can easily use it on things like t-shirts, plushes, toys, etc.

In retail locations that sell snacks, you get 20% off the snacks as well! This was important for the carrot cake cookie at Studios!!

Another pro tip: many shops have cold water bottles and sodas. Buy them there for the AP discount vs buying at the carts!

Almost all of the Disney gift shop merchandise gets the discount, there a few exceptions. Stores in the World Showcase in Epcot were more hit and miss. The store in Japan was listed on the website as taking the discount but would not actually take it back in May.

As far as your question about knowing once you’re in the store, nothing is posted. So we just routinely ask politely when checking out.
