Hello!

I recently purchased a premium annual pass and will be using it for the first time next week. I saw that AP holders receive a magic band. In my account on the disney website, I am unable to get to a magic band customization page because I am staying offsite. I used the chat feature and spoke to a CM who said I would need to go to the park, use the AP for the first time, and then go online and order it after and it would arrive in 2 weeks. I would really like to be able to use the magic band this trip, however. (It's a new thing for me, I was really excited about it!).

Is there any way AP holders can get the AP magic band somewhere in the park and have it activated that way instead of shipped? I have to go to guest services anyway with my AP voucher.
Is there any difference between a normal band and an AP band?

Any suggestions?

Thank you!
:dumbo:

You can purchase a MagicBand for $12.95 plus tax. Passholder discount of 10% is available. The RFID AP Card that you will be issued will work for FP+.

As for the actual MagicBands, there is nothing different between ones from a Resort Stay and the one for being a Passholder. The packaging for the Passholder MagicBand does include a AP Discount Card and AP MagicSlider.

Nothing is stored on the MagicBands. Everything (including MagicBands) are linked to MDE profiles. The MagicBand is just a key to reading that data stored on the MDE profile. All MagicBands assigned to an individual can be used interchangeably.

Thank you! that leads me to another question. Will I not be able to use my AP discount on things since I do not have the card that will come with the band I also don't have yet?

I'm not opposed to spending $12 to get a band while I'm there if that helps.

Yes you can, last week I still had to show my paper AP with id to get a discount.

I wasn't able to access the customization page until after I'd used the pass for the first time, so you'll probably be able to do it once you get back home. I know that doesn't help while you're there, but the card you will receive will work for everything until you get the MB and your orange discount card.

When you exchange your AP Voucher, you will be issued an AP Card that will be valid for any passholder discounts (Photo ID also required). The AP Card will be on RFID media that will work just like a MagicBand.

Thank you everyone! You have been super helpful!

One more question, am I able to link the credit card I have on MDE to the band to make purchases using the band? That would be convenient for snacks and whatnot where I wouldn't get a discount anyway since digging in a packed for Disney purse for my card is difficult to say the least.

If you are staying at a Disney Resort you can put a CC on file with the resort to allow room charging, otherwise no.
