We are planning ahead for our Dec trip to WDW. We are considering purchasing an AP. I got the price with a DVC discount and a Disney Club discount, which is the better at this time. I am curious if anyone knows of anyone that offers an even better rate. I was told that we could purchase an AP right at the concierge at the BC where are staying. Is this correct? I was told the AP would be good for 365 days from day of purchase. Can anyone offer anymore insight? By the way, we are not interested in the premium. We do not care to visit the water parks. Thanks.

There is no DVC discount on AP's, just ultimate park hopper (length of stay). Disney Club is about 4%-5%. I don't know of any other discounts for AP's.

They cannot be purchased at a resort, you have to go to a park ticket window or guest relations (including Downtown Disney).

You could order vouchers now to protect yourself from a possible rate increase before December (you pay for them when you order). You redeem the actual passes when you get there and they are effective 365 days from the redemption date.

Debbie, you are correct now that I think about my conversation with MS a couple days ago. The ult. park hopper is the one DVC discounts. However, the price they gave me for the AP (which is not discounted) is higher than the Disney Club price. Please, if you do not mind, tell me a little about these vouchers you spoke about. I was told by the woman I spoke to at Disney Club that I can purchase an AP at the concierge at the resort. Is this not true? We have always done all inclusive packages in the past; this is our first time going this route. Thanks much.

I don't know about concierge, but you can buy AP's at your local Disney Store.
That's what we did last December, figuring the price would increase January 1.
We paid for the AP's and about a week later our voucher came in the store and we picked it up.
Then at a WDW park in January, we validated our AP's. Our AP's are good a year from the time of validation.
Convenient, as long as you have a local DS.
We received an AP room discount too. Although I didn't have the AP's when I booked or even when I called back for the AP discount. And I didn't have to show our AP's at the resort.

Sounds great! If I understand you, I can go to my local Disney store, show my Disney Club card, get a voucher showing us paid, and then when we go to WDW in Dec, 2002 we can pick up our AP at one of the parks and it will be good 365 days from the day we pick it up in Dec. Is this correct?

The only way to get the AP cheaper than with the DC discount, is when you RENEW with the DC discount. The renewal for a regular AP with the DC discount is approximately $316.
So, if you buy it this year, your renewal next year will be a few dollars cheaper. :D

And, yes, the AP is good for 365 days from the date of purchase. :):D:)
