Annual Pass - How to activate

Just wanted to mention. Since the AP is going to be your regular AP after you use it the first time, I'm assuming that it will not get a person parking for free the first time you arrive at the parks. I only say this because we just returned home 2 weeks ago tomorrow and visited US/IOA 3 times during that trip and my AP was scanned each time to make sure it was an active AP to get the free parking (unlike Disney where you just flash your AP). Plus I knew to have my picture ID with me each time. The first time they asked for it, after that I handed it to them and they thanked me for having my picture ID ready after that. I'm no US/IOA expert, but have had the preferred APs for 4 years now and it's funny that they don't have "dates" on the APs, so you will have to remember when your AP expires. When you renew, the same ID gets "reloaded" with another year. While there in Oct I stopped by the guest service office and asked them to check for my expiration date. I wanted to make sure I was able to get my free parking while there in January and then renewed in person. Had it expired before my January dates, I would've called and renewed by phone.
It's a little confusing with the AP dates since they let you keep the same ticket year after year. My Preferred AP is from 2005 and is the plastic kind with my picture on it so I'm glad I don't have to trade it in. Disney makes you get a new ticket every year.

Yes we also had the plastic ones when we first got the power pass, then it expired and months later they had the BOGO preferred passes and we ended up with the new paper ones (that was a great deal). My husband was glad because he hated the picture on the first pass, but since it said power pass, we would probably not kept them anyhow. I did like the plastic card ones -- they are still around here somewhere.

I will be getting an AP when we go next month and my question was about the parking...so you've answered that. Do you still have to have the credit card you order the pass/tickets with you to get them at the kiosk?

I'm scanning through the threads to see if there is a discount for non-resident APs now....not seeing anything so far.

You will need the cc you purchased them with. If you don't still have the CC, you can go to Guest Services and they can process it for you.
