Annual Pass / Free Dining / Renewal Question, Please Help!

Can I purchase a voucher for an AP more than 60 days prior to our trip and use the credit from the tickets for that?
That way my AP doesn't start until we redeem the voucher, but we will still be able to make FP+ reservations.

Not unless you are at WDW.

What you CAN do (and it requires a bit of extra funds as a "investment in the future")
is use your tickets to buy an additional AP voucher to KEEP... for activation and use on a FUTURE TRIP.

Another choice is to buy a longer MYW ticket now (6 days up to 10 days) and HOLD it, unused.
That way, when a future trip comes up, you can BOOK X days worth of FP+ (X is the number of days on the unused ticket) and then, upgrade that multi-day ticket when you arrive at WDW (and still keep your advance FP+.)

That would be a bit less expensive than buying the full AP voucher now, and holding it.

Got it. Awesome. Thanks for all the help. I think what I'll end up doing is getting 10 day tickets and doing exactly what you are saying here (upgrade them to AP when we arrive at WDW but still be able to make FP+ reservations). The price difference is only $173 between a 2 day and 10 day ticket from what I see ($192 vs. $365).

Thanks again.

Slightly different question. We have APs that will be activated in April. If we go again in the fall and want to try Free Dining, can we tell them we don't want the tickets (and apply the value towards the package)? Or must we take the tickets and just hold them for future use?

You must buy the tickets (2-day minimum) and hold them for future use, or upgrading, or AP renewal or AP purchase.

:wave2: Robo i have a question i hope you can clarify for me.
My DH and i will be on-site for 5 days in October:yay: and after we will be staying off-site for another 7 days. I have an AP and DH will have a 5 day MYW and a 2 day all attached to the MDE. Will i be able to make FP+ for all days on and off site at the 60 day mark? Also at the 180 mark can i make dining reservations for all days. probably only 10 days total?

I appreciate your help:goodvibes

You say that your husband will have only 7 days worth of tickets for a 12 day trip?

A few days on site and the rest off site:goodvibes

But, that doesn't help me.
If you don't know WHICH days exactly, and at which parks on which days, and at what times, you can't make advance FP+ for those days.
It will also matter due to the kind of ticket that you have, the kind that your husband has, and the change in resorts as to when you'll be able to book the FPs.

This is actually a very difficult question.

Thank you anyway for your help.:goodvibes I guess i'll find out once i try to make FP+ and dining reservations for the days we're off site. The resort stay is for 5 days 1st and then we're moving off site for the remainder of the trip. i was hoping to make reservations for 180 + 10 even though we won't actually be on site for 10 days. Sorry i guess i'm not explaining myself very well.:confused3

You are explaining it just fine.

But, you're not seeming to see that you MUST KNOW at the 60-day mark, which days and at what time you will be in which park(s.)
If you don't, how will you be able to book the exact FPs for the parks?
It is further complicated by the on-site/off-site situations.

Also, you'll need to know the above info at the 180 day mark, if you plan on dining ADRs.

It is a very difficult question to answer without exact details.

Oh Yes, we do have an idea which parks but we're waiting for the park hours for October to come out to decide exactly. We're thinking of Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday of our resort stay. Then Friday and Monday Wednesday and Thursday the following week which will be off site. So with the tickets we have i was hoping that i can make FP+ and dining for those days even though some are off site. I guess i'll find out once i can make reservations.
Thanx again for trying to help me out

The AP will allow you only to book up to 7 days of FP+ IN ADVANCE, because you are only staying at a WDW resort for 5 days.
The 7 days' worth of Magic Your Way tickets will allow your DH to book 7 days of FP+ IN ADVANCE, too.
At the 60 day mark, both of you will be able to book FOUR of those FP+ days (for the first Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.)
[Friday is included as that is "check-out day" for the WDW resort, and FP+ can be pre-booked on check-out day.]
You will have to wait to book the remaining THREE days on individual days, as each of those 3 days becomes 60 days in the future.

It is POSSIBLE that you -because of the AP- would not get to book your last 3 days of FP+
until 30 days in advance, as you will not be at a WDW Resort for the last half.
(I don't know if they treat the AP differently than MYW tickets when there is a split stay.)

Just keep checking the Oct. link (HERE.) The calendar will pop from 2014 to 2015 as soon as those hours are released.
(Likely within the next 5 days, or so.)
