Annual pass for 9 yo?

My son will be 9 when we travel in July. We're thinking of purchasing annual passes since we will most likely be going again next May 2007. He will be 10 by then. Which annual pass do I have to buy for him? I was thinking the adult pass, but my husband had a good point -- why pay more for this year in anticipation of next year? Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

I believe it is the price at first use. I agree with your husband, what if you end up not going back? You can't anticipate what might happen.

Buy the child pass, save the money, use it, and forget about it. I seriously doubt they'll ask or question you.

Even if they question you, like a previous poster said, I think that as long as your son is nine when it was first used than you can "officially" buy a child's ticket without worrying about anything.

I would buy the childs pass and use it until it expired. I agree with others in that Disney's policy is to honor the pass once it was used. Most CM's can't tell the difference between 9 and 10 year olds anyway so you shouldn't have any problem.

I agree with the others, purchase the childs AP, its good for one year from the first date of use. Enjoy your trip...

I had the same question when I was buying my son's pass. I was going to buy the adult pass and when they asked me for his date of birth they said that he is a child and then changed the price and ticket to a childs pass.

When I read your post, I realized we would have the same problem if we buy AP's for our Nov. trip. DD turns 9 in July and would be 10 if we went back in Fall of 2007. I think we will still buy her a child's pass, however. Especially since the poor thing looks like she's 6 anyway!

You buy it at the price your child is when you purchase it.

buy the child pass if the boy will be 9 when it is first activated/used. if he turns 10 the next day you are not cheating the system but using it the way it is designed.

no need to spend the extra money.

(by the way - i am speaking from experience. this year will be the first year i HAVE to buy my son an adult pass and i does hurt a little. did buy him a child AP up until he was 9. used that child pass on a trip when he was 9 and again after he turned 10. no questions asked. they may however ask when he goes to activate it. don't sweat it. like i said above, you are not cheating the system, but using it the way it was designed to be used.)
