Annual Pass & FastPass Question

Sorry if this has been covered before... We have Annual Pass exchange certificates. On My Disney Experience, it says to make my fast pass selections. However, it says I have to link my tickets. Since I won't be activating our passes till we get to Disney, does that mean we can't make our fastpass selections in our 'window'?

On your exchange certificate there is a number just enter that in to link. Your ticket isn't activate until you exchange certificate at guest services. But you have to link in order to make FP+. If your certificate is 2 pages and goofy is on the second page that is your pass number...not the confirmation number. Lol drove me nuts I kept putting in the wrong one.
