If your annual pass has an expiration date of Oct. 30th, can you enter a park on the 30th?

Along the same lines, if it expires oct 30 and you want to renew, does it start nov 1 or can you wait until your next visit in June for it to start the 365 day annual pass?

Renewing keeps the same expiration date, just the year changes. If you want a different date like June instead of October you'd need to let the pass expire then start new

If your current AP started (was activated) on Oct. 30, 2015 (expires Oct. 30, 2016,) and you renew that AP, the renewal does not really "start" on Nov. 1, it "continues" from Oct. 30, 2016 and will be good through Oct. 30, 2017.

Yup. A bit confusing.
As CAS said, a "renewal" simply keeps the same anniversary date as the original AP, it just adds a year.

I have this issue every other year with the way we do trips. I always defer and purchase a new pass. The savings to renew is not worth the 6 months that a pass is unused.
