I called in to use my 40% off code and book my room. I booked room only and was asked, “why wouldn’t you just book your tickets and dining now?” I told the CM that I was not sure if I would be purchasing an annual pass. He then said, “Well I can help you out with that; we just started to be able to sell annual passes with packages. What ?? Then he quoted me annual pass price, plus dining, plus room. Will there be a day where you have to buy a package to come to Disney, or a day you can't buy an annual pass without a package? Those folks sure are smart, and know how to keep people on property!!

Considering the number of locals that have AP's, I don't see them making it a requirement that you stay on site to get one. But it is nice that they are making them available in packages. It will cut down tremendously on the amount of work they have to do upgrading all the one day tickets to AP's. Of course, there will still be people booking a second or third package in the same year that won't be wanting an additional AP. But now that you can book a room and dining only if you're an AP holder, that takes care of that too.

You're right though. Disney is smart. They know if you buy that AP, that you'll come back for more trips before it expires, so they get even more of your money.
