Annual pass changes coming........

But what if you bought a voucher pre February increase. So I paid $485ish without taxes for my DVC voucher. So it's not worth the $529 old price. If I activate it (and actually enter a park with I) and then immediately go to guest services can I then just pay the $20 to get the new gold pass with the photo option? Or will I have to pay the difference between $485 and $549?

Interested in the answer to this as we also bought AP's before the Feb price increase & have not activated them yet.

Adding another confirmation from MS regarding what will happen with existing AP certificates (via chat -- in writing):

Me: Hi, I have 4 DVC Annual Pass Renewal Certificates I previously purchased linked to my MDE account. What will happen when I go to redeem these certificates in December (my next planned trip):
1. They will issue discontinued APs with previous terms and benefits of the discontinued APs
2. They will issue a credit (of the previous AP price) towards the purchase of a new DVC Gold/Platinum AP
3. They will issue a new Gold AP
4. They will issue a new Platinum AP
MS: You can simply use your existing Annual Passes until they expire.
Me: I don't have existing APS -- I have existing Certificates
Me: Not the same thing
Me: A certificate needs redeemed for an actual AP
MS: Certificates are the equivalent of an Annual Pass. The are simply the way we allow you to stall activating the Annual Passes until you arrive.
MS: Yours are still good. Nothing changes regarding their use.
Me: Ok, so I can activate my existing AP certificate without having to get a Gold/Platinum AP
MS: Yes you can.
Me: Ok, thx
MS: It was My pleasure!

EDIT: this is no longer accurate -- CMs have confirmed you will receive a Platinum AP if you currently have an AP/AP Renewal/DVC AP/DVC AP Renewal Certificate, which has been confirmed by several people on this and other forums.

My pass expires this month. We are taking a couple years off. They have priced us out.

Maybe me too, I just booked SPD for February and was planning to put that ticket toward my renewal. Now I'm not so sure. We really don't use PhotoPass and there are other places in the world to vacation.

I upgraded to a Premier Passport in DL at the Start of September ( $1130 or so)and just seen on the page it is going up to $1439+tax. That is a very large increase even with the addition of the photpass downloads ( I have not used photopass before)

The child AP has been the same cost as an adult at least for a year. did not occur in this price increase.

Disney does and if you don't like it tough because they've got the numbers on their side...right now.

Oh how cruel....was going back and forth all week about renewing FL resident seasonal passes and then finally decided this morning and....BAM!

But after researching, I think it will cost me about $3 more a month.

Old MONTHLY prices for a family of 4 = $97.19ish. This is for 3 FL seasonal and 1 FL annual.

New MONTHLY prices for a family of 4 = $100.80ish. This is for 4 silver passes.

(of course these prices are after a $112 per person downpayment.)

So yes $60 more a year to go from FL resident seasonal to silver. But now we can get all silvers as FREE PARKING.

All you FL seasonal pass folks, please let me know if I have this wrong!

In the past you could change pass types and still "renew" at the applicable rate so I would assume that would be the case here too.

Depends what you mean - if you already purchased a DVC AP Renewal Certificate, it will be activated as the old AP with the old benefits/terms. If you haven't purchased your renewal certificate yet, then you'll have to renew at the new Gold (+$18pp) or Platinum ($+100pp) Pass. See my previous post:

I currently have a TIW card that expires in March 2016. We come to Disney 2 times per year and stay offsite. Between our kids becoming Disney adults at age 10 (paying $40-50 per kid at most of our favorite resturants) and the Disney restaurant price increases, we have pretty much limited our onsite table service dining, but managed to make the $500 break even point with the TIW card costing $100. No way are we going to break even with $750 for a $150 TIW card! Count us OUT!! A 50% price increase is too greedy. Sad to say, we will now only eat a few counter service meals and snacks going forward and will reserve our nicer meals for offsite restaurants. We will be in Disney in 2 weeks. The only ADR I have booked is Beaches and Cream to share a Kitchen Sink. My husband and I looked at this just yesterday and are having difficulty stomaching $50 pp for a family of 4 for mediocre food at Chef Mickey's, even WITH at 20% TIW discount.

Disney restaurants seem to be very popular, so I doubt Disney will miss my money.

The information posted up-thread about AP certificates is different than what was actually happening in the ticket booths today. If someone brings in a certificate for a non-renewal 'old' pass type, the computer automatically turns it into a 'new' pass type. No difference is paid. Renewal certificates are a bit different and I'm not comfortable commenting on how they work because I didn't do any today.

$749 now up from $698 for AP. That's quite an increase. My plans are Dec 11-20, 2015; Apr 2-10, 2016 and Dec 2-10 (now since it will be just under the 365 days!). My own theme park admissions for all of these dates would be $1,306.77, so I guess the $749 is still worth it. We'll see. Hopefully, none of my trips get cancelled.

Received the same --- ok, so if I understand this --- our renewal price (btw, I still don't understand why they no longer have a children's price --- I am paying the same amount for a 4-yr old that can't go on as many attractions as an adult) --- anyway --- so, the renewal price for his ticket is $86 more-- ( non- Florida--- regular AP) , and the perk is the Photopass ?

That's the conclusion im coming to. It really stinks. I was really hoping for some unique perks to help me feel justified to pay the extra money. I feel like a crazy person anyway living 700 miles away and having an annual pass. Now they hike it up $86 bucks. Ugh...

Two questions:

1. Are these being "turned into" Gold or Platinum passes?
2. You said non-renewal certificates -- any idea about renewal certificates, specifically DVC renewal certificates?
