Annual pass changes coming........

Can't find this info anywhere.

How much tax included was an Annual pass without the water parks before the increase?
Looking for the non DVC price.
Or the simple answer: 6.5% :p

I updated my chart with a After-Tax tab if you click on the image:

I want to thank all the members and CMs :worship::thanks: that provided valuable info. I have been reading this post for the last 6 hours to find exactly how this change affects me. And yay me! :yay:
I was fortunate enough to buy my APs a few weeks ago. As such, when I redeem my voucher, I am going to get the PP perk at a discount.
I also have 2 trips planned that I was going to pay for the MM for each. Now I don't have to and I save $320.:woohoo:

For those of you that benefit from this change, I am happy for you.:goodvibes
For those that are getting slammed by this change, I am sorry for you.
For those that are saying that their days at Disney are over, once the sticker shock wears off, you may feel differently.
For those that are calling the broker to sell their DVC, I think you were already close to selling anyway.

If this causes DVC prices to go down, I may be calling the broker to buy another contract. :rolleyes1

:disrocks:

yes if you are DVC you can keep your increase down by selecting the Gold pass (with a renewal it'd be about a $20 increase), but you have to be willing to accept the blackout dates. If you can't do that, it's the $100 increase to get a Platinum.

Ok I just learned about this increase today as I had a busy weekend. Was there any threads talking about this possible increase before the weekend started?

@davper Just make sure you

Are you saying this for renewals or new passes?

This is the same as FL RES then, I would assume? As in, we automatically renew into Gold? Others are saying that DVCs can renew straight into Platinum? That's what I'm wondering. I think there is a serious case of "not-on-the-same-page-itis" going on...

No, because Disney was pretty much able to keep it under wraps until some info leaked out late on Saturday but that was only that there would be changes...not what the changes would be.

If you are doing a renewal after October 4, DVC members can choose a gold pass, platinum pass or platinum plus pass. (This is a renewal - not activating a prepurchased AP voucher - you can renew your pass as any pass you are eligible for. I don't know what the procedure is for when you called to renew prior to October 4 but you still had an active pass. I plan to renew my pass at WDW on the day it expires)

Nobody "automatically" renews to anything. When you renew a pass, you get to choose what pass you renew to, and you get the renewal rate no matter which one you pick. The complication comes in with renewal certificates. If you have a renewal certificate, you have a certain amount of $$$ that is (or was) equal to the renewal rate of a specific pass.

The only automatic situation is for non-renewal certificates. The computer manages that all on its own.

AP certificate (unactivated AP) holders (incl. DVC) will get Platinum APs . FL/DVC members will have option of Gold or Platinum AP if they renew after Oct 4 for $17pp or $100pp increase respectively (plus tax)...

Can we as FL RES former AP holders renew into Platinum without spending any additional money down? And then remain at the $38/39 a month rate? Or if we renew at Gold, do we get the $112 off, and our monthly rate goes down, but we also get the new block outs?

If you are renewing a pass using the monthly payment plan, there is no down payment, regardless of what pass type you renew to. But you do get the renewal rate, not the new-pass rate.

I can't tell you what your monthly payments will be because I've never memorized all the numbers.

I witnessed a FL RES with an Annual Pass certificate walk away with a Gold Pass upon activation, not a Platinum. This was a for a new "unactivated" AP, (not renewal). SO based on what you are saying, they are treating DVC differently than FL RES....

Someone managed to screw up an automated process. That's impressive, because I processed at least 10 of them myself today, and they all went to Platinum.

It did it all automatically, it was not a screw up. I just don't know exactly when he purchased it, for all we know, it could have been ordered online in that weird moment after the cut over happened. All I know is that his AP cert quick upgraded to gold. It was a FL RES AP cert, ID checked, and it processed Gold automatically. Any possibility something has changed since the morning of 10/4, since you say you are automatically quick upgrading them to Platinum, as FL Res AP, today?

I am sorry that I have not read all the pages of this thread and if this has been asked already.

If I have regular AP Vouchers (green cards that are not active) and I activate them Friday.... what do I get?

I just want to know before our trip. TIA.

A DVC Member posted this morning they were given the option of Gold or Platinum. Obviously, you want to demand Platinum.

This vvv

Seasonal > Silver
AP > Platinum
Premium > Platinum Plus

No matter when he purchased it, there is no 'equivalent' to Gold in the computer, so nothing should even be able to quick upgrade to it. Do you know specifically when and where this occurred? I'd like to report it through the appropriate channels.

Thank you for taking the time and answering all the questions regarding the new AP changes... hopefully things will get clearer before our upcoming trip next month :cool1: Hopefully you'll be working on Nov 14th so I can go to your window to activate...lol

Yes I most certainly do know. I can attest to the fact that the 10/4 morning was incredibly chaotic and crazy. And I can attest to the fact that as of the morning of 10/4, when the AP cert was brought up, it already quick upgraded to Gold. Whether that changed from yesterday morning in response, who knows, that is entirely possible, but it certainly wasn't anything we did. This again, new pass, not a renewal.

Btw, if they are now automatically processing new APs as Platinum, this is indeed great news!
